Beverly Lou Fender
Beverly Lou Fender, 84, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, Oct. 13, 2023.
She was born July 13, 1939 in Hillsboro, thee daughter of the late Rodney N. Carey and Betty Mae Carey.
On May 12, 1956, she married Ronald E. Fender, who passed away Nov. 5, 1987. The couple lived in Xenia for almost 30 years. Beverly worked as manager of the Yum Yum Tree candy store in Xenia while being a mother to three children.
Beverly held a passion for nature and made her Highland County home into a nature sanctuary for her family. Her farm was a favorite location for family gatherings and camping. She loved animals, especially dogs and birds. Beverly kept several bird feeders stocked with food all winter and filled hummingbird feeders twice a day during the summer.
She was also an outstanding artist and enjoyed traveling with longtime companion Marlin Hilliard before his death in 2015.
Surviving are her three children, Michael Fender of Panama City Beach, Linda (David) George of Xenia and Jeff (Barb) Fender of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren, Maddie Fender of St. Petersburg, Fla., Libbie Fender of St. Petersburg, Fla., Cameron Fender, of Antwerp, Jacob (Cassie) George of Waynesville, Zachary (Ashley) George of Dayton, Lauren (Tyler) Richey of Xenia, Audrey Fender of Cincinnati and Hannah Fender of Wilmington; and six great-grandchildren, Ted George, Quinton George and Reuben George of Waynesville, Ezra and Leon Richey of Xenia and Lydia Farley of Cincinnati.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
