Beverly Jean Deatley

Beverly Jean Deatley, 85, of Leesburg, passed away Oct. 28, 2023 at Highland District Hospital.

She was born Sept. 22, 1938 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Arthur H. and Velma N. Thorton Smith.

Beverly was a member of, and very active in, the Leesburg Friends Church. She was a 1956 graduate of Fairfield High School. Beverly retired as a loan officer from 5/3 Bank and was a teller for many years at Southern Hills Community Bank. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and doing puzzles.

Beverly is survived by her children, William Douglas “Doug” (Janeen) DeAtley of Amelia, Susan Deatley of Leesburg and David A. DeAtley of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Ashley L. Stern, Brian D. DeAtley, Wm. Peyton (Ashton Inskeep) DeAtley, Kayla J. Deatley, Jacob C. DeAtley and Max W. Arpan; four great-grandchildren, Sawyer D. DeAtley, Larkin C. DeAtley, William “Isaiah” Howard DeAtley and Bexley J. DeAtley; sister-in-law, Rita Smith-Daulton; many nieces, nephews and friends; and beloved cat, Mittens.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Deatley, on Oct. 28, 2009; and siblings, Mildred M. Carson, George D. Smith and Gary L. Smith.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023 from 4-8 p.m. at Leesburg Friends Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 3, 2023 at 11 a.m., also at the church, with John Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that donations be made to the Leesburg Friends Church for the restoration fund of the Fairfield Meeting House, PO Box 393, Leesburg 45135.
