Betty A. Wessel

Betty A. Wessel, 75, of Sardinia, passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023 at her home.

She was born June 9, 1948 in Hillsboro, the daughter of the late Ray Edsel and Doris (Weber) Davidson.

Mrs. Wessel received her master’s degree in social work and was a licensed social worker for many years, both in the Highland and surrounding counties, retiring after nearly 30 years of service. She later joined her husband in operating J & B Wessel Trucking LLC for many years until his passing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three children, Shawn Harmon of Danville, Jacky (Rob) Stratton of Hillsboro and Travis (Heather) Harmon of Buford; eight grandchildren, Brittany Harmon, Ashley (Mike) Sartain, Bryson (Stephanie Patton) Harmon, Kira Stratton, Hayden Stratton, Emslee Harmon, Bristol Harmon and Briar Harmon; a great-grandson, Nash Forrest Harmon; four siblings, Margaret Frances Davidson, Charles E. (Jonda) Davidson, Terry E. (Becky) Davidson and Gary “Pete” (Deanna) Davidson, all of Hillsboro; and many nieces and nephews, as well as her loyal companion, “Diesel.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John L. Wessel, on April 21, 2021; and a brother, Gerald R. Davidson.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023 at 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Hamer Township Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
