Batavia OSHP Post investigating two-vehicle fatal crash

The Batavia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles on state Route 125 at Crane Schoolhouse Road, Tate Township, Clermont County at approximately 12:11 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2025 Honda CBR500R, operated by Brady Mentz, 20, of Amelia, was traveling west on state Route 125. 

A 2019 Ford Transit van, operated by Sandra Barr, 70, of Batavia, was traveling eastbound on S.R. 125.

The investigation shows that Mrs. Barr attempted to turn north onto Macedonia Road and was struck by Mr. Mentz's vehicle. Both vehicles traveled off the north side of the roadway and came to rest.

Mrs. Barr was transported to Clermont Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. Mr. Mentz was pronounced deceased on scene by the Clermont County Coroner's Office.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Bethel Police Department, Bethel-Tate Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and Clermont County Coroner's Office.
