Batavia man indicted on 3 charges in stabbing case

A Batavia man was indicted Thursday by a Clermont County grand jury and charged with attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and two counts of felonious assault, both second-degree felonies, after allegedly stabbing a man in Williamsburg Township.

On Sept. 15 at 4:42 p.m., the Clermont County Communications Center received a 911 call from a woman who advised her boyfriend had allegedly just been stabbed by Cody Minnie, 27, of Batavia. The incident occurred at a residence in Williamsburg Township.

Clermont County Sheriff Patrol deputies, along with the Williamsburg Police Department, responded to the scene, arriving at 4:47 p.m. Williamsburg Fire and EMS also responded, arriving at 4:48 p.m.

The victim, a 55-year-old man from Williamsburg Township, was determined to be suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen and was transported by Williamsburg EMS to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. Minnie was located on the scene and taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies without incident.

Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to the scene to interview the victim and witnesses. Minnie was transported to Clermont Mercy Hospital by sheriff’s deputies to be treated for minor lacerations to his hand. Once medically cleared, he was transported to the Clermont County Jail.

An indictment is merely a charge and is not evidence of guilt.
