Anita Mary (Longshore) Nye
Anita Mary (Longshore) Nye, 91, of Nashport, passed away Oct. 23, 2023.
She was born March 22, 1932 in Zanesville to Ernest and Doris (Henke) Longshore.
Her senior year of high school, her family moved to San Benito, Texas, and Anita graduated from San Benito High School in 1949. Soon after moving to San Benito, Anita met her future husband, Charles L. Nye. Anita and Charlie were married April 5, 1953 in Great Falls, Mont., where Charlie was stationed in the U.S. Air Force. Eventually, Anita and Charlie moved back to their roots in Ohio, where they settled and enjoyed raising their family of five children.
When the children were older, Anita enjoyed working in the local fabric shop and Shirley's Pharmacy. After Charlie retired, they both enjoyed spending 13 summers working in beautiful Yellowstone National Park. Anita and Charlie loved traveling every chance they had and saw much of the United States together including an anniversary cruise to Alaska.
Anita had many hobbies. She created beautiful cross-stitch projects, crochet projects and colorful hand-stitched quilts for her family. She loved working with fabric, producing countless garments for her family and decorative items for her home. In recent years, she was often seen methodically working on a jigsaw puzzle or playing dominoes.
Anita loved the Lord and modeled the woman found in Proverbs 31. She loved her husband of 70 years, and she loved each phone call and every moment spent with her family. She leaves her fingerprints all over their hearts.
Anita is survived by her loving husband, Charles Nye; five children, Katrina (Dan) Kirkendall, Steven (Carolyn) Nye, Loa (Brian) Stemm, Koa Nye and Charlie (Patricia) Nye; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
