West Union – Adams County has been awarded a $285,000 Critical Infrastructure grant through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to address the ongoing road slippage on Old State Route 32 in Bratton Township.

The Adams County Board of Commissioners applied for the grant in partnership with the Adams County Engineer’s Office, working together to secure funding for this long-needed improvement. The project will stabilize the failing hillside, improve drainage, and reconstruct portions of the roadway to prevent further deterioration. The slippage has worsened in recent years, creating safety concerns for residents, school buses, agricultural traffic, and emergency responders.

“This section of Old State Route 32 has been a persistent concern, and this funding allows us to finally make the long-term repairs needed to keep the road safe,” said Adams County Engineer Lee Pertuset. “Stabilizing the hillside and improving the drainage system will protect the roadway for years to come. We appreciate the partnership that made this project possible.”

The Ohio Department of Development awarded nearly $13.8 million statewide for neighborhood and infrastructure improvements, with Adams County being one of 26 communities selected. The Critical Infrastructure program supports high-priority projects in communities where roads, water systems, and drainage facilities are in critical or failing condition.
