11 Ohio University football student-athletes earn Athlon preseason honors

The Ohio University football program landed 11 student-athletes on the Athlon 2023 All-MAC team, as announced by the publication May 24.

Athlon all-conference selections are made based on career statistics and awards as well as projections for the coming season. For more information, visit athlonsports.com.
 
First-Team Offense
Redshirt senior Kurtis Rourke (Oakville, Ontario, Canada)
Graduate student Sam Wiglusz (Brecksville, Ohio)
Redshirt sophomore Sieh Bangura (Bowie, Md.).
 
First-Team Specialsits
Redshirt junior Keegan Wilburn (Nelsonville, Ohio).
 
Second-Team Defense
Graduate student Vonnie Watkins (Lusby, Md.)
Graduate student Keye Thompson (Barberton, Ohio).

Third-Team Offense
Senior Jacoby Jones (Tunica, Miss.)
Redshirt senior Jay Amburgey (Reynoldsburg, Ohio).

Third-Team Defense
Graduate student Bryce Houston (Lewis Center, Ohio)
Redshirt sophomore Torrie Cox, Jr. (Miami Gardens, Fla.).

Fourth-Team Offense
Redshirt senior Parker Titsworth (Wexford, Pa.).
 
The Bobcats are set to open the 2023 season on Saturday, Aug. 26 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, Calif when they take on the San Diego State Aztecs. Homecoming is set for Saturday, Oct. 7 against the Kent State Golden Flashes.

Television platforms, along with game times, will be announced at a later date.
