Wildcats win again in SHAC, defeat Eastern Brown

The Whiteoak Wildcats and Eastern Brown Warriors played scoreless baseball through five innings. The Warriors took a one-run lead into the bottom of the sixth, only to see the Wildcats rally and score what were the game-winning runs, winning by a 2-1 score Tuesday at WHS.
In the Southern Hills Athletic Conference victory, Whiteoak scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and then slammed the door shut on the Warriors in the top of the seventh to move their overall record to 3-3 and 2-1 in the SHAC.

Both WHS runs were scored on a two-out, two-run error.
On the mound was Evan Brill, who WHS head coach Chris Veidt described as “very sharp.” Brill went all seven innings, allowing one run (unearned) on four hits and one walk. He finished with four strikeouts and moved his overall record to 2-0 in the mound this season.
“Evan was very sharp on the mound tonight. He retired the leadoff hitter in every inning,” Veidt said.
At the plate, the Wildcats were led by Traeten Hamilton at 1-for-3 with a double and one run scored. Chase Butler was 1-for-2.
“Traeten Hamilton and Chase Butler had nice offensive days,” Veidt said. “Brill's ability to ‘play pepper’ with two outs and two strikes was huge, pressuring the defense and allowing two big runs to score on a two-out error in the sixth.
“We played solid team defense, with our lowest freebie output thus far. This team has a knack for late comebacks with two already in less than two weeks. That is a very positive sign.”
Next for WHS is a home SHAC game on Thursday, April 6 vs. Fayetteville.
