Whiteoak’s Traeten Hamilton named 2nd Team All-Ohio

The Whiteoak Wildcats have added to their baseball prestige as sophomore Traeten Hamilton was selected to the Division IV All-Ohio second team by the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association for his overall play from the 2017 spring season.
In earning the second-team honor by the coaches association, Hamilton had a season to remember with 28 games played for the Wildcats, which included a sectional championship and playing in the district semifinals, as Whiteoak was the lone baseball team in Highland County to qualify for district play this season.
Hamilton had 80 at-bats this season, where he finished with 34 runs, 33 hits, 10 doubles, three triples and one home run. The sophomore second baseman also totaled 52 bases, 19 walks, 27 steals and struck out just 10 times.

“Traeten has a true love and passion for the game of baseball,” Whiteoak head coach Chris Veidt told The Highland County Press. “He is beginning to reap the rewards of his passion.
“Traeten was a pure joy to watch this past season. If there is a better second baseman in the state of Ohio, I have not seen him. The sky is the limit for this fine young man. I am looking forward to watching him work and play for the next two years.”
Also for the sophomore, he collected 15 RBIs, with an on-base percentage of .538, a slugging percentage of .650 and a .412 batting average.
In the field, Hamilton had a fielding percentage of .969 with 44 put outs, 49 assists, one double play and had just three errors in around 90 chances. Hamilton also pitched this season with seven games on the mound. As a pitcher, he finished with a 2.80 ERA with 34 strikeouts.
