Whiteoak senior Lydia Kittner advances to finals in 2 state events

COLUMBUS — The Division III sprinting events on Friday at the 2022 OHSAA State Track and Field Championships saw success from Whiteoak senior Lydia Kittner in two sprinting events in the prelims rounds.
Kittner advanced to the finals in the 100-meter and 400-meter dashes at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium that will be held on Saturday with her Friday performances. Kittner finished in ninth place in the 100m dash at 12.49, setting a new PR for herself in the event as she raced in the first heat of the event.
A short time later, Kittner ran in the 400m dash, where she was fifth in the prelims (the Top 9 runners advance in all individual running events) with a time of 58.39, which was also a state Top 50 time for the season, plus a new girls school record in the event.
Kittner this season has had great success with a regional, district and Southern Hills Athletic Conference championship in the 400m dash event. Kittner won the SHAC championship with a time of 59.25, the district championship at 58.90 and her regional title at 58.93.
For Saturday, the finals of the 100m dash are scheduled to start at 9:40 a.m., and the finals of the 400m dash have a scheduled start time of 10:35 a.m.
