Whiteoak narrowly loses home game to Felicity

Whiteoak’s home non-conference game against the visiting Felicity-Franklin Cardinals went down to the wire on Tuesday evening, but once the final buzzer sounded in the fourth quarter, it was the visitors leaving Mowrystown with a 52-51 win over the Wildcats.
Felicity was the stronger team in the first quarter, outscoring the home Wildcats by a 16-6 score, but Whiteoak charged back with an 18-12 second frame for a halftime score of 28-24 in favor of the Cardinals.
WHS (0-2) in the first quarter had their six points off two-point baskets by Nick Bailey, Carson Emery and Brayden Yeager.

The 18-point second quarter for Whiteoak consisted of a 3-pointer and two-point basket by Bradley Ashbaugh, plus a two-point basket by Emery. Three points in the second frame came from a basket and free throw by Landon Barnett.
WHS also had four points each by Josh Hughes and Brayden Yeager with both players making two-point baskets in the second frame.
The Wildcats came out as the stronger team in the third frame, as this time they outscored Felicity, 19-7 for a 43-35 lead once the quarter came to a close.
The Wildcats’ 19-point third quarter consisted of Ashbaugh sinking a 3-pointer and free throw, while Hogan Walker connected with a shot from the free-throw line for a point.
Emery made three two-point baskets in the third, while Yeager had a two-point basket. Barnett sank a 3-pointer, a two-pointer and a free throw in the same quarter for WHS.
Then came the fourth quarter where Felicity broke away just enough to gain the victory, outscoring WHS, 17-8 for the one-point win.
Whiteoak in the final eight minutes totaled eight points with a free throw by Ashbaugh, three points from Emery and four points by Hughes.
Leading the way in the non-conference game for Whiteoak was Emery with 13 points, followed by Ashbaugh with 10 points. Scoring nine points was Barnett, and finishing the game with eight points each were Hughes and Yeager.
Rounding out the Wildcats’ final scoring were Bailey with two points and Walker with one point.
WHS finished the game with 17 two-point field goals, three 3-pointers and they were 8-of-20 from the free-throw line.
Bryce Reeves led Felicity with 15 points, while Garrett Taulbee collected 12 points and Carson Crozier finished with 11 points, as they were the three FHS players to reach double figures.
Felicity as a team totaled 14 two-point field goals, six 3-pointers and they finished 6-of-12 from the free-throw line.
Next for the Wildcats is a home Southern Hills Athletic Conference (SHAC) game on Friday, Dec. 6 against the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs (0-2).
