Whiteoak Lady ’Cats earn 1st win of season; defeat Sciotoville East

For the first time this season, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats gained a victory on the basketball court, as on Wednesday, Jan. 6 the Lady ’Cats earned a road win over the host Sciotoville East team by a 51-26 score.

WHS scored 22 points in the first frame, and after a 17-point second quarter it was Whiteoak leading East, 39-14 at halftime. In the second half, WHS added eight points in the third frame and four points in the fourth quarter. East scored five points in the third quarter and seven points in the final frame.

Scoring for Whiteoak included 16 points from Jaylie Parr, followed by 14 points by Lydia Carr. Also with 10 points was Molly McMullen, and the remainder of the scoring for WHS included five points by Brianna Hill and two points each from Brooklynne Campbell, Emmy Hawkins and Kelsey Monteith.

WHS had one 3-pointer, which was made by Parr. In her team-high 16-point effort, Parr scored 12 points in the first quarter and all 16 points in the first half.
