Whiteoak grad Kiley Sosby earns Academic All-MAC honors

Bowling Green State University sophomore softball standout and Whiteoak graduate Kiley Sosby was recently selected as an Academic All-MAC (Mid-American Conference) player for not just her stats on the field, but her performance in the college classroom.
Sosby is a pitcher and utility player for Bowling Green State, where in the classroom she earned a 3.620 GPA with a major in business management and an international business minor.
The Bowling Green State University web site says the following on the honor:

“The Academic All-MAC team honor is bestowed upon a student-athlete who has excelled in both athletics and academics. To qualify, said student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior-college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.”
For her sophomore season on the softball field, Sosby played both pitcher and was also a designated player as she took part in a total of 31 games for the Falcons. In those games, the Whiteoak graduate and former high school All-Ohio selection had eight starts as a pitcher, collecting three wins and 46 strikeouts in her outings. The sophomore also had two shutouts and pitched two two-hitters.
At the plate, Sosby had one home run. For her two seasons at Bowling Green, Sosby has 96 at-bats, two home runs and eight RBIs. Pitching in two seasons, she has pitched 151.2 innings in 41 appearances and 29 starts. In those appearances, she has collected 142 strikeouts, including 96 as a freshman (26 appearances) and 46 strikeouts (15 appearances).
In 2016, Sosby was selected as a Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete.
During her high school years at WHS, Sosby was a three-time All-Ohio first-team selection and helped lead the Lady ’Cats to a Southern Hills Athletic Conference championship in Division II of the SHAC, where WHS played in the regional round of the postseason, a season where she had seven no-hitters.
Also in the state record books, Sosby is tied for second-place all time with a 20-strikeout game on March 31, 2014 against Paint Valley and is on the most strikeouts in a season list with 355 in 2015 during her senior season. Sosby is 10th all-time in the state record books with 1,187 strikeouts for a career (2012-15).
Sosby is also tied for fourth all-time with four perfect games in a season (2015), fifth all-time in no-hitters for a season with seven in 2015 and in that same season she had 86 straight innings without allowing a walk, third place all-time in the state record books.
