Tournament Recap: Hillsboro, McClain, Whiteoak and Lynchburg-Clay softball eliminated from postseason

Four Highland County softball teams recently had their seasons come to a close this week with the Hillsboro Lady Indians and McClain Lady Tigers falling in the Division II sectional semifinals, while Lynchburg-Clay lost in Division III and Whiteoak lost in Division IV.

The lone softball team remaining in Highland County is the Fairfield Lady Lions, who will play in the Division III Sectional Finals on Friday at home against Piketon with a 5 p.m. start.

Div. II
Hillsboro 1, Logan Elm 17
The No. 9 seeded Hillsboro Lady Indians saw their season end on Saturday in the first round of the sectionals to the Logan Elm Lady Braves by a 17-1 score. Logan Elm eventually lost to No. 1 seeded Sheridan, 6-5. For the season, the Lady Indians were winless.


Div. II
McClain 0, New Lexington 2
The No. 5 seeded McClain Lady Tigers lost in the sectional semifinals on Wednesday to No. 4 seeded New Lexington, 2-0 to have their season come to an end. McClain finishes the season with 12 wins, going 6-4 in the Frontier Athletic Conference for second place.  

Div. III
Lynchburg-Clay 2, Zane Trace 3
The No. 10 seeded Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs traveled to and lost to the No. 7 seeded Zane Trace Lady Pioneers by a 3-2 score, Tuesday. LC led by a 2-0 score after the top of the third, but allowed three runs in the ensuing innings to see their season come to a close. LC ends the season at 9-11 overall, winning five of their last seven games.


Div. IV
Whiteoak 4, Glenwood New Boston 13
The No. 11 Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost in their Division IV Sectional Semifinal game to Glenwood New Boston by a 13-4 score. Whiteoak led by a 2-0 score after the first inning but were unable to keep the lead.
