Sports Today: 3 games for Tuesday night

This past weekend saw Lynchburg-Clay senior Eric McLaughlin earn his 1,000th career point, coming against Miami Trace Saturday night in a home non-conference game at LCHS. He did so by scoring his 1,000th point with a slam dunk. Congratulations to McLaughlin on the feat, and it will be fun to keep watching him for the rest of the season as the Mustangs are just three games into the season.
Also this past weekend, the Hillsboro Lady Indians had a nice win against the Batavia Lady Bulldogs, earning their third win in a four-day span. The three-game winning streak came against Jackson, Paint Valley and Batavia, and for the season, HHS is 4-2 overall.
Congrats are also in order to the McClain Tigers wrestling team for their 4-1 finish on Saturday at the Jimmy Mac Duals. On Monday, the Lynchburg-Clay boys and girls bowling teams had big wins too.
Now it is time to move ahead to Tuesday’s schedule of games, with three boys basketball games for Highland County teams scheduled. Remember, results and game info for teams can be emailed to sforsha@gmail.com.

Boys Basketball
- Hillsboro vs. Jackson
This is a game the Hillsboro Indians need to play following their loss on Saturday. Though the Indians lost a 17-point lead against Batavia this past Saturday night, they are a talented team who are 4-1 overall. They have an excellent test ahead of them in Jackson on Tuesday night, a team that is having a solid start to their season too with wins over Meigs (62-56), River Valley (77-44) and McClain (52-25).
Being this is a Frontier Athletic Conference (FAC) game, both the Indians and Ironmen will be playing at their best to get an early lead in the conference standings.
For the Indians, even with their first loss of the season in their most recent game, they do have conference wins over the Washington Blue Lions (71-66) and McClain (58-36). HHS also has wins over Eastern Brown (60-54) and Georgetown (53-48).
- McClain vs. Miami Trace
Miami Trace is looking for their first win of the season, as they are 0-4 overall. They have played Waverly (88-77), Logan Elm (59-58), Chillicothe (67-43) and Lynchburg-Clay (66-56).
The Tigers have one win on the season against Westfall (53-34), and since that season-opening win they have losses to Hillsboro (58-36) and Jackson (52-25). Tonight is also the first game this season at McClain Gym for the boys team.
- Fairfield vs. Peebles
The Lions and Indians both have had very good starts to their season, with Fairfield being 2-0 in the SHAC Division II and 4-0 overall. Peebles is also 2-0 in the SHAC Division II and 2-0 overall.
This will be a big game for both teams on Tuesday night, and the winner will have sole possession of first place early on in the Division II SHAC season. The Lions have SHAC wins over Manchester (73-48) and Whiteoak (58-47), while Peebles has defeated Lynchburg-Clay (70-55) and Whiteoak (65-50).

On Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs defeated the Fairfield Lions 81-72 at FHS in a game that had a fourth-quarter fury of scoring. In the fourth frame, the Mustangs scored 31 points and the Lions had 26 points. At halftime, the Lions held a two-point lead at 36-34. Devin Pierson of LC led the Mustangs with 23 points.
