Lady Wildcats lose on Saturday at Portsmouth

On Saturday (Dec. 14), the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost on the road to the Portsmouth Lady Trojans in non-conference action.

The loss was by a score of 40-12 for WHS, but after the first frame the score was close with PHS leading by a 3-2 score. In the second, Portsmouth outscored the Lady Wildcats, 12-2 for a halftime score of 15-4.

WHS was held scoreless in the third while PHS scored 20 points, and in the fourth WHS won the frame at 8-5.

The Lady Wildcats were led by Cylee Bratton with five points, scoring a 3-pointer and two-point basket in the fourth quarter. Finishing with two points each were Kensley Bailey, Kara Ward and Brooklyn Campbell, and Hannah Price finished with one point.

WHS finished 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Portsmouth was led by Hannah Hughes with 24 points, as she totaled five two-point baskets, three 3-pointers and she was 1-of-3 in her free throw attempts.

Scoring five points each for PHS were Skilyn Robinson and Keirstin Reed, while Nia Trinidad totaled four points and Jaiden Rickett had two points.

The loss on Saturday drops the Lady Wildcats to 0-8 overall.
