Lady Wildcats lose to Fayetteville; also fall to ECHS

At the home of the Fayetteville Lady Rockets on Monday evening, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a Southern Hills Athletic Conference showdown to the host team, falling by a 78-23 score.

The game opened with a very strong first-quarter effort by the host Lady Rockets with Fayetteville jumping out to a 26-2 advantage, followed by a 10-8 second frame for a 36-10 halftime score.

In the second half, the Lady Rockets outscored Whiteoak 29-6 in the third quarter, followed by a fourth quarter at 13-7.

For WHS, they were led in scoring by Cylee Bratton with 15 points, followed by four points by Kara Ward and two points each off baskets by Kensley Bailey and Madison Berkley.

The Lady Rockets were led in scoring by Taylor Malone with 19 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double.

Also in double figure scoring was Anne Murphy with 18 points, Kelbee Coffman with 18 points and Olivia Crawford with 11 points.

Coffman ended the game with four 3-pointers for the Lady Rockets, while Murphy and Malone each made two 3-pointers. Malone also had two blocks for Fayetteville.

Other Fayetteville scoring included six points from Maddie Brockman (one block, eight rebounds) and three points each by Faith Rosselot and Hanna Polston.

For the game, Fayetteville was 14-of-18 from the free-throw line, while WHS was 7-of-14. Fayetteville also totaled 45 rebounds and 20 steals as a team.

Next for the Lady Wildcats is a SHAC game on Thursday, Dec. 5 at home against the Manchester Lady Greyhounds.

Fayetteville will next play on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at home in a non-conference game against the Batavia Lady Bulldogs.

East Clinton 38, Whiteoak 22

In a game played on Saturday, Nov. 30, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a home non-conference game to the visiting East Clinton Lady Astros by a 38-22 score.

WHS trailed by a 8-1 score after the first frame, and following a score of 8-5 in the second quarter, the Lady Astros led by a 16-6 score at halftime. In the second half, ECHS outscored Whiteoak, 15-10 in the third, and in the fourth frame the score was 7-6 in favor of the Lady Astros.

Whiteoak was led in scoring by Cylee Bratton and Kara Ward with seven points each. Next in the scoring column were Kensley Bailey with five points and Brooklynne Campbell with three points.
