Lady Tigers win 2017 Spike and Dig Volleyball Tournament

Saturday was the start of the 2017 high school volleyball season, and the McClain Lady Tigers opened the season with two victories, winning the 2017 Highland County Spike and Dig volleyball tournament at Hillsboro High School.
In the Saturday best-of-three format, the Lady Tigers won in the first round against the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats in two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-12.
During the other first-round match, it was Hillsboro who won in three sets against the Fairfield Lady Lions. FHS won the first set at 25-23, but HHS came back to win sets two and three with scores of 25-12 and 25-13.

In the consolation finals, Whiteoak defeated Fairfield in three sets. WHS won the first set at 25-22, and the Lady Lions came back to win set two at 25-20. In set three, the Lady ‘Cats won by a score of 25-19 to gain third place in the event.
The championship finals saw McClain and Hillsboro battle to three sets as well, with McClain winning sets one and three. The second set saw HHS tie the match up with a score of 25-17, but McClain battled back and won set three at 25-23.
McClain has now won the past two Spike and Dig Tournaments.
