Kittner and Osborn win Whiteoak cross-country races

The Whiteoak Wildcats hosted a home cross-country race on Wednesday with Whiteoak’s Lydia Kittner winning the girls event and Lynchburg-Clay’s Dawson Osborn winning the boys event.

Whiteoak’s Lydia Kittner led from start to finish and won with a time of 21:21, and next in second place was Genève Baril of McClain with a time of 21:27.

Macy Etienne of Lynchburg-Clay was third (24:19), Claire Ames of Whiteoak finished fourth at 26:40, and fifth place went to Katrina Sturgeon of McClain.

In the final team scoring, Whiteoak won the girls event with a first-place score of 26, and McClain was second with 29. Lynchburg-Clay didn’t field a full team.

“This was just a little three-team meet between a few little Highland County schools, but this race featured two of the very elite female runners in the Southeast District. Kittner and Baril will win a mess of meets this season,” WHS head coach Doug Hughes said.

The boys varsity race was won by Lynchburg-Clay’s Dawson Osborn, who led from start to finish and winning the race at 19:29. Whiteoak sophomore Wade Evans was a strong second place at 19:45.

Christian Price of Whiteoak took third place at 20:37, and McClain’s Lyle White was fourth place at 20:51. Fifth place went to Connor Butler of Whiteoak.

For the team results, Whiteoak was first place with a score of 27, followed by Lynchburg-Clay in second with 43 points and McClain was third with a score of 55.

The junior high boys race was won by Lynchburg-Clay’s Dylin Pierson, and the girls junior high race was won by Karli Parker of McClain.
