Hillsboro Indians boys win district bowling championship; Whiteoak’s Hofer, Fairfield’s Gleadle also qualify for state tournament

The Hillsboro Indians boys bowling team has qualified for the 2022 OHSAA Division II State Bowling Championships, as they were the winners of the district championship held at Shawnee Lanes.
The Indians won with a score of 4,227, with scores including the regulation total of 3,017 and the six Baker rounds of 1,210.
HHS was followed by Logan Elm with a total team score of 3,974, as they had a regulation score of 2,811 and a Baker total of 1,163, also qualifying for the state tournament.
In third place was Zane Trace with a total score of 3,723 and in fourth place was Whiteoak at 3,638.
Whiteoak’s Coleman Hofer, a junior, qualified for state as an individual with a three-game score of 639. His game totals included 194, 228 and 217.
For the district champion Hillsboro Indians, they were led by junior Shaun Rodgers with a score of 669 (202, 233, 234). Next was freshman Andrew Tomko at 603 (223, 160, 220).
Next for HHS was senior Hunter Springer with a score of 601 (167, 201, 233), and from there HHS scores included junior Zach Ison at 582 (163, 206, 213) and senior Blaine Bledsoe at 562 (154, 234, 174).
Also on the Indians’ varsity roster are freshmen Austin Bledsoe, Zach Burwinkel and Landon Springer.
The Whiteoak Wildcats’ individual scores following Hofer were sophomore Chase Stultz (605), junior Lawrence Bradford (424), senior Tayvin Becraft (393) and sophomore Jake Ward (551). Also on the varsity roster is junior Nate Raines.
In the Division II girls district event, Fairfield finished in second place with a score of 3,236. The district champions were Sheridan with a score of 3474 to be the lone team to qualify for state. In third place was Zane Trace (2,993), and fourth was Lynchburg-Clay (2781).
Fairfield junior Kara Gleadle qualified for state with a score of 558. Her three-game totals were 172, 193 and 193.
Fairfield’s scores also included: sophomore Hannah Ferguson (492), senior Sara Knisley (425), junior Harley Shoemaker (408) and senior Sadie Knisley (378). Also on the roster are sophomore Braylee Bradley and senior Brianna Setty.
Lynchburg-Clay scores included senior Milain Burns (464), sophomore Sarah McKinney (444), senior Sophia Salon (379), senior Bridget Wilkin (363) and junior Hannah Smith (338). Also on the roster are junior MJ Roads, junior Elizabeth Moberly and freshman Avery Wallace.
The 2022 OHSAA Division II State Bowling Tournament will be held at Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl, with the boys championships taking place Friday, March 4 and the girls championships on Saturday, March 5.
