The following are Highland County basketball recaps for Thursday, Dec. 10 and Friday, Dec. 11.
Thursday, Dec. 10
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lady Mustangs fall to North Adams
The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs lost to their Southern Hills Athletic Conference counterpart North Adams on Thursday (Dec. 10) by a 66-41 score at NAHS.
The Lady Mustangs were outscored 24-9 in the first quarter and then 17-9 in the second frame for a 41-18 halftime deficit.
In the third frame, it was LCHS winning the quarter at 14-7, but NAHS won the final quarter at 18-9, handing LCHS a 25-point loss.
The loss drops LCHS to 0-3 overall this season.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Fairfield Lady Lions gain SHAC win at Manchester
Playing on the road this past Thursday, the Fairfield Lady Lions returned to Highland County with a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win by defeating the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, 47-42.
In the first frame. it was Manchester leading by a 14-6 score, and each team scored 13 points in the second frame for a 27-19 Lady Lions deficit at halftime.
When the final two quarters were finished, it was Fairfield who was standing as the winners, with FHS outscoring the host Lady Greyhounds 15-9 in the third and 13-6 in the fourth frame.
Peyton Magee was the leading scorer for Fairfield with 11 points, while Emma Fouch finished with 10 points. Next were Ella Newkirk with nine points and Braylynn Haines with eight points. Madison Bronner finished with seven points, and Emma Vance wrapped up the scoring with two points.
Fairfield totaled three 3-pointers with Newkirk, Fouch and Magee each making one 3-pointer. Magee was also 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, and FHS as a team finished 12-of-18 in their free-throw shooting.
Bronner and Haines each led Fairfield with seven rebounds apiece, while Newkirk was the assists leader with three. Emma Fouch led Fairfield with five steals.
The win moves Fairfield to 4-0 overall this season.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lady Indians fall to Fayetteville
The Hillsboro Lady Indians lost a non-conference road game on Thursday by a 55-41 score against the host Fayetteville Lady Rockets.
HHS trailed 20-5 at the end of the first quarter, and from there they led the second-frame scoring at 14-8, but still trailed 28-19 when halftime arrived.
In the third quarter, it was Fayetteville leading the eight-minute frame at 13-7, and HHS battled tough in the fourth as they won the final quarter at 15-14, but still lost by 14 points.
Cassidy Feldhaus led Fayetteville in scoring with 16 points.
The loss dropped the Hillsboro squad to 1-4 overall this season.

BOYS BASKETBALL
HHS Indians fall to Jackson in FAC showdown
The Hillsboro Indians were defeated in a Frontier Athletic Conference matchup on Friday night (Dec. 11) on the road at Jackson, as the Ironmen won by a 65-53 score.
In the loss, the Indians were led by Quintin Captain with 16 points, while next in the scoring column was Hunter Price with 12 points. Brad Miller finished with nine points, while both Ryan Scott and Jakwon Clark each scored six points. Rounding out the HHS scoring was Lawton Parry with four points.
For the game, the Indians finished 11-of-19 from the free-throw line, and the team totaled six 3-pointers with Captain making three, Price with two and Scott with one.
At halftime, the Indians led 29-21, but JHS came out in the third frame and won the quarter at 27-11, and then the fourth frame was also won by JHS at 17-13.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Whiteoak defeats West Union for big SHAC win
Friday night was a great night for the Whiteoak Wildcats as they defeated the visiting West Union Dragons, 62-56 for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win.
West Union led 23-12 at the end of the first frame, and WHS responded with a 22-9 second quarter for a halftime score in favor of the Wildcats at 34-32. In the third and fourth frames, West Union scored 11 and 13 points, respectively, while Whiteoak had quarter scoring of 14 points each in those same two frames.
WHS was led in scoring by Landon Barnett with 24 points (four 3-pointers), and next was Carson Emery with 20 points. Also in the scoring column for the Wildcats were Brad Ashbaugh with eight points, Luken Roades with four points, Hogan Walker with four points and Nick Bailey with two points.

BOYS BASKETBALL
LCHS drops home non-conference game
The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs lost at home on Friday night (Dec. 11) to visiting Chesapeake by a 70-52 score in non-conference action.
In the game, the Mustangs were led on the scoreboard by Ian Waits with 17 points as he was 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, and he made one 3-pointer, plus four two-point buckets.
Next for LCHS in the scoring column was Brady Chisman with 15 points, as he finished 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Logan Shope finished with 12 points, and finishing the final scoring for the Mustangs were Bryce Binkley with six points and Chase Smaltz with two points.
For the game, the Mustangs finished 11-of-14 from the free-throw line, while Chesapeake went 9-of-18.
CHS led 18-12 at the end of the first frame, then they outscored the Mustangs, 20-10 in the second for a 38-22 halftime deficit for LCHS. Chesapeake won the third frame at 18-13, and in the fourth quarter it was LCHS winning the frame at 17-14.
