Whiteoak loses on road at Paint Valley
Starting the 2022 part of their schedule, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats lost a road game to the host Paint Valley Bearcats by a 66-32 score.
In the game at PVHS, the Lady Wildcats trailed 17-6 after the first quarter, and after a 12-1 second quarter that Paint Valley won, it was the hosts leading 29-7 at halftime.
The second half saw PVHS win the third at 20-17, and PVHS won the final quarter at 17-8.
Whiteoak was led in scoring by Jaylie Parr with 17 points, and next was Lydia Carr with six points. The remainder of the WHS scoring included Darby Yeager and Molly McMullen with three points each and Brooke Campbell with two points.

Wildcats win by 3 over host Manchester
A 33-point effort by Landon Barnett, followed by 24 points from Bradley Ashbaugh, helped lead the Whiteoak Wildcats to a 75-72 victory over the host Manchester Greyhounds for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference win Tuesday, Jan. 4.
Manchester led 21-20 after the first quarter, and WHS scored the most points in the second quarter, outscoring the Greyhounds 19-16 for a halftime score of 39-37 in favor of Whiteoak.
The third frame saw WHS outscore Manchester 18-16, and in the fourth quarter it was Manchester winning the frame at 19-18, but WHS earned the win by three points.
Following the points scored by Barnett and Ashbaugh were 10 points from Luken Rhodes and eight points by Carson Emery.

Hillsboro wins over Fayetteville
A non-conference game on Wednesday night at Hillsboro High School saw the Lady Indians defend their home court for a 37-33 win over the visiting Fayetteville Lady Rockets.
HHS and Fayetteville were tied at 12 after the first quarter was completed, and when halftime arrived, the Lady Rockets outscored Hillsboro 9-7 for a halftime lead over the Lady Indians, 21-19.
Fayetteville scored six points in each of the quarters in the second half, while Hillsboro had a 10-point third frame and eight points in the fourth quarter for what became a four-point Hillsboro win.

Hillsboro Indians fall in OT at Miami Trace
It was a tough loss for the Hillsboro Indians in overtime against the Miami Trace Panthers Friday, as MTHS won at the buzzer at their home court for a 52-50 Indians loss in the Frontier Athletic Conference contest.
The two teams were tied at 17 after the first frame, and both teams scored nine points each in the second for a 26-26 score at halftime.
In the third frame both teams scored nine points again, and in the fourth quarter Miami Trace and HHS each scored eight points.
In OT, Miami Trace outscored the Indians, 9-7.
Hunter Price led the Indians with 14 points, while Ethan Parry scored 13 points. The remainder of the Hillsboro scoring included Bentley Watson with eight points, Bryce Parsons with eight points, Quintin Captain with five points and Canaan Griffith with two points.

Hillsboro loses at Miami Trace
The Hillsboro Lady Indians dropped a Frontier Athletic Conference game to the host Miami Trace Lady Panthers on Saturday night (Jan. 8) by a 36-34 score.
Miami Trace held the lead after the first frame at 13-12, and MTHS outscored the Lady Indians in the second quarter by a 9-8 score for a halftime advantage of 22-20. HHS outscored MT 9-6 in the third quarter, and both teams scored eight points in the fourth frame.
In the loss, the Lady Indians were led in scoring by Gracie Dean with 18 points, while Brynn Bledsoe scored eight points. The rest of the HHS scoring included Rylie Scott with five points, Mya Bell with two points and Sinai Roberts with one point.

Whiteoak loses SHAC game to West Union
Whiteoak suffered an SHAC loss on Saturday night (Jan. 8) to the visiting West Union Lady Dragons by a 46-34 score.
Both WHS and WUHS each scored six points in the first quarter, and West Union outscored the Lady Wildcats 9-2 in the second, causing Whiteoak to trail at halftime by a 15-8 score.
West Union broke the game away from host Whiteoak in the third, winning the frame 21-10, and in the fourth it was Whiteoak scoring 16 points, while West Union held the lead with a 10-point fourth quarter.
Brooke Campbell led WHS with 12 points, and next was Lydia Carr with nine points. Jaylie Parr scored eight points, and the rest of the scoring included Addison Roberts (two points), Darby Yeager (two points) and Molly McMullen (one point).

Lynchburg-Clay falls to Goshen in non-conference contest
On Saturday afternoon, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs were defeated by the Goshen Lady Warriors, 67-56.
The first quarter saw LCHS score 16 points in the eight-minute frame, then add 15 points in the second quarter. As for Goshen, in the first half they had a 12-point first quarter and 15 points scored in the second for a LCHS halftime lead of 31-27.
Goshen had two 20-point quarters in the second half, and for LCHS, they added 15 points in the third and 10 points in the fourth frame.
LCHS was led in the scoring column by Jade Massey with 18 points, followed by Macy Etienne with 14 points.
Addison West finished with nine points, and both Bry Price and Allie Etienne each scored five points.
Rounding out the LCHS scoring were Ella Barry with four points and Kalyn Rich with one point.

Fairfield wins over Huntington
In their first game on the court in 16 days, the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated Huntington, 77-47 in non-conference action.
For Huntington, they scored 11 points in the first quarter, then added seven points in the second frame in the game played at Grandle Gymnasium in Leesburg. In the same two quarters, the Lady Lions began with a 14-point first frame, then broke out for 24 points in the second quarter, building a halftime lead of 38-18.
Fairfield scored 22 points in the third quarter, and 17 points in the fourth frame. Huntington added 15 points in the third and 12 points in the fourth quarter.
Madison Bronner led FHS with 14 points, and Emma Fouch added 13 points. Next were Peyton Magee and Faith Donley with 12 points each, and Ella Newkirk added 11 points.
Also scoring points for FHS were Braylynn Haines with nine points, Hannah Hamilton with four points and Kelsey Clark with two points.
