Fairfield, Lynchburg-Clay and Whiteoak send athletes to Division III Track and Field Regionals

The Fairfield Lions, Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs and the Whiteoak Wildcats will all be represented at the regional championships next week as they all had athletes placed in the Top 4 at the 2017 Division III SE District Track and Field Championships.
FHS had an excellent effort on the boys side of the track and field championships at districts, finishing with four first-place finishes, one second-place and one third-place finish.
In the 4x800-meter relay event, the Fairfield boys team of Matthew Mangus, Noah Richmond, Brandtson Duffie and Trent Swisher set a district meet record of 8:23.9.

Also with a first-place finish, the 4x200m relay team of Dustin Huff, Devon Haynes, Nick Price and Wyatt Fent finished with a time of 1:36.73.
The Lions also had a first-place finish in the 1600m run from Noah Richmond at 4:32.46, and Brandtson Duffie was first place in the 800m run at 1:59.4.
Fairfield’s Matthew Mangus was second in the 3200m run with a time of 10:04.2.
Others qualifying for regionals from Fairfield were Nate Buchanan in the 110m hurdles (third, 17.94) and the 4x100m relay team of Dustin Huff, Devon Haynes, Nick Price and Wyatt Fent (third, 47.05).
Garrett Spargur qualified for regionals in the 300m hurdles with a time of 44.79, third place, and the 4x400m relay team of Brandtson Duffie, Bennett Hodson, Wyatt Evans and Trent Swisher qualified to the regional round with a time of 3:41.87 (third place).
Blake Adams of FHS qualified to regionals for the girls shot put with a throw of 37-06.00. The Lady Lions also had Ciara Colwell qualify for regionals in two events with a 1600m run third-place time of 5:39.79 and a 3200m third-place time of 12:33.78.
For LC, Zac Carter qualified for regionals in four events, including the 100m dash with a time of 11.67 for third place. He was also third place in the 200m dash at 23.60 and third in the high jump at 6-00.00. Carter’s best finish was in the long jump, where he was second place at 19-04.75. Also for the Mustangs, Bobby Merry qualified for regionals in the 800m run with a time of 2:07.30 for fourth place at districts.
The Whiteoak Lady Wildcats had two athletes qualify for regionals in Taylor Tackett and Kensley Bailey. For Tackett, she qualified for the 400m dash with a second-place time of 1:00.97 and the 200m dash with a time of 26.06, also a second-place finish.
Bailey qualified for three regional events, including the 100m dash with a third-place time of 13.26; the 200m dash in fourth place at 27.00; and the long jump event with a third-place jump of 16-05.75.
