Fairfield Lions, Miami Trace Lady Panthers win 2019 McClain Invitational

The Fairfield Lions and the Miami Trace Lady Panthers were the winners of the boys and girls races, respectively, at the 2019 McClain Invitational held at Mitchell Park in Greenfield on Wednesday.
The two events individually were both won by Fairfield athletes, as Fairfield’s Cohen Frost won the boys race by five seconds over the second-place finisher with a time of 17:12. The girls race was won by Ciara Colwell with a time of 20:45, as the second-place finisher had a time of 21.00.
Fairfield won the boys race with a score of 27, followed by Miami Trace in second at 28 points. In third was Hillsboro (94), followed by McClain (113), Washington (137) and Whiteoak (142).

As for boys race, the Lions took the second-place spot individually as well with Ethan Davis having a time of 17:17. Blake Haines came in at seventh place (18:36), Gavin Campbell was eighth (18:49) and Brant Haines was ninth (18:54).
Landry Hattan finished in 12th place for Fairfield at 19:19. Other FHS times included: Nathan Vidourek (28th, 21:03), Orrie Friend (38th, 23:20) and Dalton Hamilton (41st, 23:38).
Rounding out the FHS times were: Gavin Cox (26:10), Elijah Humphreys (29:35), Josh Brown (29:51), Ben Elton (31:53) and Tucker Green (33:52).
Hillsboro’s Top 20 times included: Ben Sowders (15th, 19:51), Jayse Middleton (17th, 19:56), Alex Rensing (19th, 20:07) and Brock Haines (20th, 20:08).
Other HHS times in the Top 50 included: Ethan Snapp (23rd, 20:24), Brogen Priest (34th, 22:59) and Owen Ryan (46th, 23:53). Also for HHS, times included: Liam Smart (26:47) and Kieran Conlon (33:07).
Lyle White led McClain with a 13th-place finish at 19:36, and teammate Nathan Ernst was 22nd at 22:22. In 26th place was Garett George at 20:58, and in 27th place was Paul Bliss with a time of 20:59. Luke Bliss was 32nd overall at 22:19, and in 35th place was Lucas Jansen at 23:03. Others in the Top 50 for the Tigers were Mason Reichman (40th, 23:37), Matthew Milnes (47th, 24:06) and Quinton Smith (48th, 24:09).
More McClain times included: Gavin McCune (28:08), Miles McMurray (28:25), Nick Cunningham (28:56) and Chance Lane (29:59).
Whiteoak’s top finisher was Wade Evans in 14th place with a time of 19:44. Robbie Raines was 29th overall for the Wildcats (21:49), and in 30th place was Charlie Phillips (22:15). The 37th-place finisher was Bryce Bailey (23:12), and in 45th place was Bradley Ashbaugh (23:48). The rest of the WHS times included: Connor Butler (24:31), Tristan Helterbrand (25:24), and Gabe Sheppard (31:26).
As for the girls race, Miami Trace won as a team with a score of 38, followed by Fairfield at 41 and Washington with a score of 47 as they were the lone three schools who had enough runners for team scores.
Also for Fairfield, Makenna Colwell placed 10th overall with a time of 27:08, and in 11th place was teammate Emily Price at 27:22. The 12th-place finisher was Payton Harvey at 27:30 for the Lady Lions.
Also for Fairfield, Madison Fox was 17th overall at 28:27, and Anna Davis finished in 20th place with a time of 28:47. Fairfield’s Maddie Griffith was 28th overall at 34:22, and Laynee Duffie finished in 31st with a time time of 35:30.
For the Hillsboro Lady Indians, Karleigh Hopkins was 13th place at 27:35, Rylee Callahan was 15th overall at 27:57, Josie Hopkins finished in 24th place at 30:28 and Clara Page was 29th at 34:23.
McClain’s Hailey Legge placed ninth overall with a time of 27:04, while teammate Aaliyah Evans was 26th (31:14), Lexi Jones was 27th (31:46) and Maysun Faulconer was 32nd (40:33).
