Indians lose on road to Washington
Hillsboro went on the road on Friday (Dec. 10) but were unable to return home with a FAC win, as they lost to the host Washington Blue Lions, 58-51 in WCH.
HHS trailed 14-8 after the first frame, and after the Indians won the second frame at 16-10, it was the two conference foes tied at 24 when halftime arrived.
In the second half, the Indians scored seven points in the third and 20 points in the fourth frame. Washington added 14 points in the third, and 20 points in the final quarter.
The Indians were led in scoring by Hunter Price with 17 points, followed by Ethan Parry with 14 points. The rest of the HHS scoring included eight points by Canaan Griffith and six points each by Quintin Captain and Bryce Parsons.

Tigers fall to host Jackson
McClain and Jackson had a defensive battle on Friday night (Dec. 10), but once the final buzzer sounded it was the home team Ironmen of JHS defeating the visiting Tigers by a 31-28 score.
Jackson scored five points in the first, followed by scoring of nine, nine and eight for their 31-point total. McClain scored nine points in the first frame and then scored four points in the second, 11 points in the third and seven points in the final quarter.
Bryson Badgley led the Tigers with 10 points, followed with six points from Braden Wright. The rest of the MHS scoring included four points by Kendyll Toney, four points from Wesley Potts, Preston Saunders with two points and two points by Seth Wise.

Wildcats lose to Williamsburg
The Whiteoak Wildcats hosted the Williamsburg Wildcats on Friday, Dec. 10, where they lost the non-conference game by a 72-46 score.
Whiteoak trailed 23-11 after the first quarter, and following a 12-7 second frame in favor of Williamsburg, Whiteoak trailed 35-18 at halftime. In the second half, Whiteoak scored 18 points in the third and 10 points in the fourth quarter. Williamsburg added 22 points in the third quarter and 15 points in the final frame.
For the game, Bradley Ashbaugh led Whiteoak with 22 points, and next in the scoring column was Landon Barnett with 10 points. Carson Emery finished with six points, Luken Roades totaled three points, Bryce Bailey finished with three points and Hogan Walker ended the game with two points.

Hillsboro gains non-conference win at Goshen
Going on the road for a Saturday night showdown with the Goshen Warriors, the Hillsboro Indians ended the game as the winners, defeating the host Warriors 52-41 on Dec. 11.
HHS led by a 6-5 score at the end of the first quarter, and following eight points to five points in the second frame in favor of HHS for a halftime lead of 14-10. The third frame saw Goshen led the eight minutes of action at 15-14, but the Indians broke away in the fourth quarter at 24-16 for the 11-point victory.
Ethan Parry led the Indians with 19 points, followed by Hunter Price with 18 points. The rest of the Indians’ scoring included 10 points by Canaan Griffith, three points from Jayse Middleton and two points by Quintin Captain.

Lions upend host Paint Valley
The Fairfield Lions scored double figures in each quarter they played on Tuesday night (Dec. 14) as they went on the road and defeated the host Paint Valley Bearcats by a 64-50 score at PVHS.
The Lions trailed after the first quarter at 16-11, but won the second frame with a 16-point effort, compared to 14 points from the home team. In the final two quarters, Fairfield scored 19 points in the third and 18 points in the final frame, while PV had a 13-point third frame and seven points in the fourth quarter.
Reese Teeters led the Lions with 18 points, while Tytis Cannon scored 17 points. Koben Zink added 14 points, Jon Bentley scored 12 points and Brayden Zimmerman scored three points in the win.

Fairfield dominates visiting West Union
It was a dominating effort for the Fairfield Lions on Friday night (Dec. 17) as they won in convincing fashion by a 74-9 score over the visiting West Union Green Devils.
The Lions built a 26-2 lead at the end of the first frame and from there added 20 points in the second quarter, 15 points in the third frame and 13 points in the fourth quarter. West Union scored four points in the second, one point in the third and two points in the final quarter.
T.J. Mootz was the leading scorer for the Lions with 19 points, followed by Tytis Cannon with 18 points. Reese Teeters finished with 14 points, while Brayden Zimmerman and Koben Zink each scored seven points. Wyatt Collins scored six points for Fairfield, and the remaining scoring included Jon Bentley with two points and Gunner Bennington scoring one point.

FHS Lions lose to visiting Cedarville
Fairfield lost on Saturday night (Dec. 18) to visiting Cedarville by a 50-41 score in non-conference action. The Lions trailed 10-9 after the first frame but took the halftime lead at 24-14 after outscoring Cedarville 15-4 in the second quarter.
The third frame wasn’t great to the Lions, losing the quarter at 21-3, then also losing the fourth quarter at 15-14.
Tytis Cannon and T.J. Mootz led Fairfield with 13 points each, and the rest of the scoring included seven points by Koben Zink, five points by Reese Teeters and three points from Trey House.

Lions defend home court against Wellston
It was a non-conference victory earned by the Fairfield Lions on Wednesday night (Dec. 22), defeating Wellston at Grandle Gymnasium in Leesburg by a convincing 71-47 score.
The Lions led 18-12 when the first frame ended, and after outscoring the visitors 16-9 in the second quarter, Fairfield led at halftime by a 34-21 score.
The final two frames saw the Lions score 16 points in the third and 21 points in the fourth quarter. Wellston scored 11 points in the third quarter and 15 points in the fourth.
Tytis Cannon led the way for Fairfield with 30 points, making four 3-pointers.
The rest of the FHS scoring included: Reese Teeters (nine points), Koben Zink (nine points), T.J. Mootz (eight points), Jon Bentley (seven points), Brayden Zimmerman (four points), Gunner Bennington (two points) and Wyatt Collins (two points).

McClain falls to Fayetteville
The McClain Tigers lost to the visiting Fayetteville Rockets on Thursday night (Dec. 23) by a 45-39 score at McClain Gym in Greenfield.
The Tigers were outscored 13-5 in the first quarter but won the second frame at 12-11, leaving the halftime score at 24-17 in favor of the Rockets. Fayetteville won the third frame at 9-6, and McClain outscored the Rockets 16-12 in the fourth frame.

Fairfield lost on Saturday night (Dec. 18) to visiting Cedarville by a 50-41 score in non-conference action. The Lions trailed 10-9 after the first frame but took the halftime lead at 24-14 after outscoring Cedarville 15-4 in the second quarter.
The third frame wasn’t great to the Lions, losing the quarter at 21-3, then also losing the fourth quarter at 15-14.
Tytis Cannon and T.J. Mootz led Fairfield with 13 points each, and the rest of the scoring included seven points by Koben Zink, five points by Reese Teeters and three points from Trey House.
