Whiteoak Wildcats defeat rival Fayetteville in SHAC contest
The Whiteoak Wildcats earned a big-time Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Saturday night, as they defeated the host Fayetteville Rockets by a 63-44 score.
WHS scored 15 points in the first frame and led by eight points after the first frame, as the WHS defense held the Rockets to seven points in the opening quarter. In the second frame, it was FHS outscoring the Wildcats, 16-12 for a halftime score of 27-23 in favor of Whiteoak.
The second half began with WHS scoring 19 points in the third, then 17 more points in the fourth frame. Fayetteville scored two points in the third quarter and 19 points in the fourth frame.
Nick Bailey led the way in the scoring column for Whiteoak with 27 points, as he had nine two-point baskets and was 9-of-14 from the free-throw line.
Landon Barnett totaled 20 points in the win as he made one two-point bucket, three 3-pointers and he was 9-of-12 in his free-throw attempts.
The remaining scoring for the Wildcats included seven points by Brad Ashbaugh, six points from Carson Emery, two points by Hogan Walker and one points by Luken Roades.
For the game, the Wildcats were 23-of-32 from the free-throw line, and they collected four 3-pointers in the victory as well. WHS also had 15 two-point baskets.

Hillsboro falls to host Eastern Brown
The Hillsboro Indians defense had a better performance this year than they did in their previous meeting against the Eastern Warriors, but the outcome was still the same as they lost to the Warriors by a 46-37 Saturday evening at EHS.
HHS trailed 29-10 at halftime as they scored eight points in the first quarter and two more points in the second frame. In the second half, the Indians added 16 points in the third and 11 points in the fourth quarter for their 37-point total for the game.
Quintin Captain led the way for Hillsboro with 19 points as he made five 3-pointers, one two-point basket and he was 2-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Other scoring for the Indians included six points each by Hunter Price and Brad Miller, while Ryan Scott and Lawton Parry each scored three points.
The Indians made seven total 3-pointers and were 6-of-9 from the free-throw line.

Fairfield Lions gain road win at Manchester
Going on the road for a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game the Fairfield Lions earned an important SHAC victory on Wednesday night by defeating the host Manchester Greyhounds by a 55-52 score at MHS.
The Lions scored 12 points in the first frame, then followed up with an 11-point second frame. In the third, the Lions added 19 points, and then in the final frame FHS scored 13 points. As for Manchester, they scored 10 points in the first frame, followed by a 16-point second quarter. In the second half, the Greyhounds had quarter scoring of 12 points in the third and 14 points in the fourth.
Connor Priest led the way in the scoring column for the Lions with 13 points, followed by Jon Bentley with 11 points.
Also in the scoring column for the Lions were Tytis Cannon with nine points, Brayden Zimmerman with eight points, Reese Teeters with eight points and with two points apiece were Koben Zink, Caleb Payne and Zane Taylor.

LCHS wins game at Paint Valley
In their final game of the 2020 calendar year, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs earned a win against the host Paint Valley Lady Bearcats by a 55-26 score in non-conference action.
The victory for the Lady Mustangs included three players reaching double figures in the scoring column. The leading scorer for LCHS was Sierra Benney with 13 points, followed by Jade Massey with 11 points, and scoring 10 points was Macy Etienne.
The rest of Lynchburg-Clay’s scoring saw Kalyn Rich, Bry Price, Allie Etienne and Serene Walker with four points each. Rounding out the scoring in the win were Addison West with three points and Ella Barry with two points.

Whiteoak Wildcats defeat visiting Northwest High School
Whiteoak earned a non-conference victory on Tuesday, Dec. 29 by winning at home against non-conference foe Northwest High School by a 58-54 score.
The Wildcats earned the win even after trailing by a 10-9 score at the end of the first quarter. In the second frame, the Wildcats scored 16 points, while NHS scored 11 points for a halftime score of 25-21 in favor of host Whiteoak.
In the second half, the Wildcats added 16 points in the third and 17 points in the fourth frame, while NHS scored 12 points in the third quarter and 21 points in the final eight minutes.
Brad Ashbaugh led the Wildcats with 21 points, as he made five 3-pointers and three two-point baskets.
Landon Barnett was second in scoring for WHS with 19 points, as he was 8-of-10 from the free-throw line. Also for WHS, scoring included Luken Roades with eight points, Carson Emery with six points and Hogan Walker with four points.

Tigers fall to Adena in non-conference action
In their final game of the 202 calendar year, the McClain Tigers boys basketball team lost to the host Adena Warriors, 64-40 in a non-conference game played at AHS.
Leading in the scoring column for the Tigers was Preston Saunders with 14 points, followed by Bryson Badgley with 11 points. Also scoring for McClain were Wesley Potts with eight points, Isaac Carroll with five points and Braden Wright with two points.

Hillsboro Lady Indians win at Paint Valley in 2OT
It was an exciting game to say the least for the Hillsboro Lady Indians, as they won in double overtime Dec. 23 over the host Paint Valley Lady Bearcats by a 57-52 score at PVHS.
In the non-conference win for HHS, Gracie Dean led the way in the scoring column with 24 points. Also for Hillsboro, it was Rylie Scott and Brynn Bledsoe with eight points each.
Susanna Barney followed with seven points in the victory, and teammate Reagan Estes scored five points. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Indians were Jaden Moberly with three points and Eden Edenfield with two points.

The Whiteoak Wildcats lost a home non-conference game on Tuesday, Dec. 22 to the visiting Piketon Redstreaks by a 58-33 score at WHS.
In the loss, the Wildcats scored six points in the first frame, followed by quarter scoring of 13, four and 10 points.
WHS was led by Nick Bailey with 10 points, followed by Luken Roades with nine points. Also, the Wildcat scoring included Landon Barnett with eight points, Carson Emery with four points and Hogan Walker with two points.

In a SHAC game played on Monday, Dec. 2,1 it was the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs falling to the visiting Peebles Lady Indians, 81-39.
Sierra Benney led LCHS with 14 points, while next in the scoring column was Jade Massey with 12 points. The remainder of the LCHS scoring included Macy Etienne with four points, Serene Waker with three points, and with two points each were Kalyn Rich, Bry Price and Addison West.
