UC’s Mason Fletcher collects Ray Guy Award weekly honor

University of Cincinnati junior punter Mason Fletcher was selected for the Ray Guy Award's weekly honor, "Ray's 8," on Monday following his season-best performance in the 20-6 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday in the Bearcats' Big 12 Conference debut at Nippert Stadium.
Fletcher averaged a season-high 48.5 yards on four punts, booting two 50-plus and putting three inside the 12-yard line.
The Melbourne, Australia native had a 57-yard punt downed at the Oklahoma 10 in the first quarter and added a 54-yard boot downed at the 12 in the second quarter.
Later in the second quarter, he had a perfect 42-yard punt that was fair caught at the 8-yard line.
On the season, Fletcher is averaging 43.7 yards per punt with 75 percent landing inside the 20 (8-of-12) and three traveling at least 50 yards.
For his career, Fletcher is averaging 44.7 yards – the sixth-best mark among active players. He has placed 54 of 125 career punts inside the 20, with 22 going 50-plus.
In 2022, he was a Ray Guy Award Finalist and collected Third Team All-America honors to go along with AAC Special Team Player of the Year accolades after averaging 46.2 yards per punt with 29 placed inside the 20.
