Investigators with the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal (SFM) are seeking tips from the public as they investigate six separate fires, including four confirmed arsons, that took place at a Preble County campground.

Based on damage reports, photographs and radar data, the National Weather Service in Wilmington is able to confirm that a weak tornado occurred in Preble County, east of Eaton, during the late afternoon of Sept. 24.

Governor Mike DeWine has ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio to be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Preble County, the Ohio Statehouse, the Vern Riffe Center and the Rhodes State Office Tower Monday, Dec. 18.
