The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program at the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) serves some of our most vulnerable older Ohioans. 

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is looking for community coaches to assist with facilitating its falls management program entitled “Matter of Balance.”  

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally-funded program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency and in Ohio, by the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA). ODA provides additional state funds to support SFMNP operation within Ohio.

In today’s culture, we are obsessed with finding ways to improve our health, whether it is our mental, physical, emotional or financial health. Many are always looking for ways to be better. According to recent studies, one way to improve your physical and mental health, help maintain a sense of purpose, and reduce isolation and loneliness is by volunteering.

March is Social Work Month. During this month, we recognize the many dedicated social workers in our region who devote their professional life to serving others.

To wrap up our series on the services the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) provides, we will focus on one of our most vital functions, advocating and preserving the rights of the aging person.

National Family Caregiver Month is celebrated each year in November and is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. It offers an opportunity to raise awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities and increase support for caregivers.

The Ohio Department of Development and the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) want to remind Ohioans that assistance is available to help with their home energy bills.

In last month’s article, we discussed the Front Door and our Resource Center staff who help answer questions for callers by determining needs and what resources are available and most appropriate to help. For part three of our series, I would like to focus on Case Management services the AAA7 offers.

Helpful information including Agency highlights, facts and figures were included in the Area Agency on Aging District 7’s (AAA7) 2023 Annual Report. The AAA7 provides services to 10 core counties in Ohio including Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) has received Accreditation of Case Management for Long-Term Services and Supports from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its PASSPORT and Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver Programs for a period of three years.

As a continuation from last month’s column, I would like to now focus on services the Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) offers.
