Tigers wrestle at Paint Valley

By
The Highland County Press-
On Saturday, Dec. 18, the McClain wrestling team competed in the Paint Valley Super Duals. Despite winning 27 of their 40 matches, MHS found it hard to overcome the fact that they were forfeiting 6 of the 14 weight classes.

However, they were still able to pull out two team victories, going 2-3 on the day and bringing their dual record to 2-3 on the year with an overall record of 11-11.

"I was very pleased with the fight the guys brought to the mats, and the respect they showed both on and off the mats," MHS coach Shane Paul said.

Four MHS grapplers went 4-1 on the day, including Coty Barnhart (125), Steven Barber (152), Joe Barnhart (171) and Gary Ryan (215).

The Tigers had three wrestlers go 3-2, including Cody Black (135), Joe Unger (160) and Josh Barnett (189).

Despite going up against much larger opponents all day, Brandon Davis (285) finished 2-3.

Next up for McClain is the Greeneview Duals, held at Jamestown Greenview High School on Thursday, Dec. 23, which will be a seven-team event.
