Tigers take 4th quarter; gain 4th win

CHILLICOTHE — For the fourth time this season the McClain Tigers gained not only a non-league win, but an overall win. On Tuesday night, it was the Tigers who gained the upper-hand in the fourth frame to take home a 56-52 win over the Unioto Sherman-Tanks at UHS.
The Tigers, who were coming off a tough loss to the Clinton-Massie Falcons Saturday night, got back on the winning side of things with a 20-point fourth quarter, while their defense held the Tanks 12 points in the same quarter.
McClain started off by leading 14-11 after the first quarter, but were held to just eight points in the second frame. UHS led 26-22 at halftime.
In the third quarter, both teams scored 14 points.
McClain's Jared Loftis led all scorers with a game-high 22 points. Loftis made six two-point baskets along with 10 free-throws.
Zach Matracia finished with eight points, followed by Evan Mustard with seven points. Mustard sank two of the Tigers' four 3-pointers. Aaron Pryor scored six points.
Also scoring for MHS were Zach Uhl and Scott Balzer with five points each. Thomas Schrader scored three points. Schrader and Balzer each made a 3-pointer.
MHS was 16-of-26 from the free-throw line, while UHS went 17-of-25. MHS forced the Shermans into 15 turnovers, while committing nine.
Brick Davis led UHS with 17 points. Murray (UHS) made two 3-pointers, finishing with eight points.
The win lifts MHS to 4-10 this season. This was the fourth loss of the season for UHS.
The Tigers will play again on Friday, as they are set to travel and face the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles, in South Central Ohio League play. In SCOL games this season, MHS is 0-8.[[In-content Ad]]
