Tigers swept up by Skyhawks

On a day which featured 40 mph winds and a combined 54 hits by both teams, the McClain Tigers dropped both games of a non-league doubleheader against the Fairborn Skyhawks Saturday afternoon.
In game one, the Tigers lost in six innings by a score of 18-8.
The game was a back-and-forth affair for the first five innings, with several lead changes.
Going into the bottom of the fifth, the game was tied at 5-5.
Then the Fairborn bats went into high gear.
The Skyhawks scored six times in the bottom of the fifth and followed up with seven more runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win.
Austin Wilson suffered the loss for the Tigers. Wilson pitched four 1-3 innings, allowing eight runs (four earned). The Tiger lefty struck out none, walked seven while giving up five hits.
Four Tiger hitters racked up two hits each. Logan Wise, Jacob Dillon, Jon Johnson and Jimmy Barnett. Wise and Barnett each had triples.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Fairborn struck early and often. Fairborn collected 17 hits in the game while MHS had 11 hits, with FHS winning by a score of 18-9.
The Tigers were forced to play catch up after the first inning, as Fairborn opened the game with a four-run first. The Tigers responded with four runs in the top of the second.
The Skyhawks struck back with four more runs in the bottom of the second, which proved to be enough to seal the victory.
MHS sophomore Ryan Case was the losing pitcher for the Tigers, going three innings. Case struck out one batter, walking two. He allowed 11 hits and 11 runs (six earned).
Four Tiger hitters collected two hits each: Caleb Cooper, Dustin Taylor (double), Jon Johnson and Wise.
"The wind was gusting out all day, which made it tough on all of the pitchers," MHS head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "It was like pitching in a hurricane for both teams. The infielders and outfielders didn't have it any easier.
"We hit the ball well and scored some runs, we just couldn't stop their hitters. They've (Fairborn) got some kids that can flat stroke the baseball."
The Tigers (2-2) open up SCOL action at home on Monday against the Hillsboro Indians at 5 p.m.
