Tigers fall to Miami Trace

EBER — The McClain Tigers continued to improve with their offensive output Saturday night at Miami Trace High School, but the Panthers continued their winning ways, defeating the Tigers 69-56.

The loss drops the Tigers to 0-4 in the South Central Ohio League and 0-6 overall. MT improves to 4-1 overall, 3-1 in the SCOL.

On Saturday, MT won the first quarter at 20-11, and out-scored MHS 13-10 in the second frame, leading 33-21 at halftime.

Then came the third quarter with the Panthers scoring 25 points, with the Tigers tallying 17. In the fourth, MHS out-scored the Panthers, 18-11.

Zach Matracia, a McClain senior, led all scorers with a game-high 24 points. Aaron Pryor followed with 10 points and Scott Balzer had seven.

Also scoring for the Tigers was Jared Loftis with five points, Tanner Vanzant and Evan Mustard each had four points. Jeremiah Savage scored two points.

For the Panthers, Isaiah Carson led MT with 23 points and Tucker Hughes scored 22. Carson sank two 3-pointers, but it was Hughes who led with six 3-point shots. Ty Leach scored 15 for the Panthers.

Making 3-pointers for the Tigers were Balzer, Vanzant and Mustard.

The Tigers were 13-of-20 from the free-throw line. MT went 15-of-23 in free throw shooting.

In the turnover battle, McClain had 15 turnovers and MT had four.

MHS will host Highland County rival Hillsboro in SCOL play this Wednesday at McClain High School.[[In-content Ad]]
