Overberg gains 3 first-place finishes in junior high SCOL meet

     Hillsboro's Megan Overberg, eighth grade, earned All-SCOL status in all three of her track events at the junior high South Central Ohio League Track and Field meet at Washington Court House, last Wednesday, May 5.
     Individually she won the open 400-meter run, and in the 4X100m relay Overberg along with seventh graders Alli Goolsby, Erin Hagan and Hannah Kibler won the event.
     “What a way to graduate Megan to the high school level, and what a foundation of all-league returnees to lead next year’s middle school team," the Hillsboro coaching staff said.
     In the 4X400m relay, the final event in every track meet, Overberg, who ran the the anchor position, teamed up with fellow eighth graders Emily Bolton and Hannah Opst, along with seventh grader Erin Hagan finished with their best time of the season at 4:37, which was enough to upset No. 1 seeded London for a first-place finish.
     “These kids trimmed six seconds off their previous best time, which was recorded just four days before. That is incredible determination," the Hillsboro coaching staff said.
     The Hillsboro girls also claimed second-team All-SCOL in four other events.
     Goolsby captured second in the 100m hurdles and Kibler placed second in the 100m dash, and did the same in the 200m dash.
     The 4X200m relay team consisting of Brooke Smith, Taylor Davis, Hannah Opst and Erin Hagan ran their best time of the year earning the runner-up spot.
