Never mess with a winning streak

Never mess with a winning streak!
Those words sum up the words of Crash Davis from "Bull Durham," and well, I think I might have broken the code of Crash.
I didn't just mess with one winning streak, but two.
How did I mess with two winning streaks you ask?
Well to start off when it comes to sports I can be what's called superstitious.
If not washing a jersey after a big win or wearing certain socks makes a player feel like that's the reason why they preformed at a higher level than usual, I say great and keep doing it until it doesn't work anymore.
But the streaks I messed with belonged to the McClain Tiger and Hillsboro Indian football teams.
When the season began I covered the Tiger football team for the first three weeks and they went undefeated, beating Adena, Unioto and Paint Valley. In that same time frame I didn't go to the Hillsboro football games, and guess what, they also didn't lose game. They defeated Western Brown, Gallia Academy and Dayton Stebbins.
But then I failed to listen to the words of Crash and I messed with a
winning streak.
I'm sorry!
Forgive me. I only wanted a little variety in my life.
Since I messed with the streak, both teams have failed to win a game, and the question is, Am I at fault?
What can I do to fix this?
This week I am going back to basics as I will attend the Tigers' homecoming game at McClain Field.
This bad luck streak will stop!
Of all people, I should have known you can never mess with a winning streak.
OK, maybe there were other factors involved with the losses, but with Halloween coming up this month, with a full moon probably in the works during the month of October, and all the other bud luck things associated with the month, I just don't want to take any chances.
So I promise I will do my best to not step on any sidewalk cracks, walk under any ladders and pray to God no black cats cross my path. I also will try not to break any mirrors along the way.
Hopefully both football teams can benefit from this.
I would wish good luck, but the power of winning and losing steaks are much more powerful than luck.
I'm too scared to say break a leg, and the Oakland Raiders motto of 'Just
Win Baby' is outdated.
All there is left to say is play hard and start another winning streak.
I hope mentioning all the bad luck symbols isn't bad luck in itself.
Oh no, where did I put my lucky rabbits foot?
