DODSONVILLE - The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs chipped away each inning and  finished off the Green Devils with a three-run home run for a 13-0 run-rule win over North Adams Friday at LCHS.
The final inning sealed the win as four runs crossed the plate.
Dalton Cox began with a single down the third base line. Cox stole second and scored on a base hit by Kris Moberly. Cody Roush walked and Ryan Doss reached the bases on a fielders choice, forcing Roush out on a 6-4 play at second. The game came to a close with a three-run home run by Ray Doss, who sent the baseball sailing over the left field fence.
The Mustangs did exactly what head coach Aric Fiscus wanted them to do Friday, and that was to not have a let down after an emotional game the previous day.
"You come off  a game full of emotion like we did Thursday and some times, teams don't know how to react. But again, our guys hit the ball well and got the job done," Fiscus said.
LC (16-2, 11-0) began its scoring in the bottom of the first with Cox leading off the Mustang hit-parade with a triple. The triple came on the first pitch and traveled to the centerfield fence.
Austin Fawley walked and went to third on an error, allowing Cox to score the Mustangs' first run. Fawley scored on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Roush.
In the bottom of the second LC added three runs, all with two outs.
The two-out rally started with Darren Harp forcing a walk. Cox singled to right field, allowing Harp to round the bases for a run.
Fawley followed with a base hit and a steal of second base. Both Cox and Fawley scored on a double by Roush.
LC added one run in the third with Wes Pierson forcing a two-out walk, keeping the inning alive. Bard Barger hit the ball past second base for a single to score Pierson.
In the bottom of the fourth Cox singled to start the inning.
With one out, Roush hit a single, scoring Cox. Ryan Doss, in the ensuing at-bat, tripled in Roush from first base for the run. Ray Doss followed with an infield single to plate Ryan Doss. Brad Barger also forced a walk in the inning.
LC finished with a total of 11 hits and two errors. NA committed three errors.
"Overall we are running the bases well and we want to keep putting pressure on our opponents by scoring runs early," Fiscus said.
Barger earned the win on the mound. He went five innings, allowing no runs on four hits and zero walks.
"Brad did very well (Friday)," Fiscus said. "He struggled with control early, but got first-pitch strikes often. He hadn't pitched in over a week, so once he settled down he was fine."
The win lifts LC to 16-2 overall, 11-0 in the SHL.
LC is scheduled to host Peebles Saturday in SHL play.
