Musketeers drop final preseason game; Jackson nets 10 points

CINCINNATI — The Xavier men's basketball team dropped their final preseason game Saturday night, falling to Bellarmine, 63-61 at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati.

McClain graduate and Xavier senior Dante Jackson was 3 of 5 from the field, all 3-pointers and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line, finishing with 10 points in 30 minutes on the court.

Jackson had two rebounds, both defensive, one block and three steals. The senior also had zero turnovers in the loss.

Tu Holloway led the Musketeers with 22 points and Mark Lyons had 17.

In the first half XU shot 13-of-30 from the field, 4-of-11 from the 3-point line. In the second half XU shot 8-of-20 from the field and 2-of-5 from the 3-point line.

For the game they were 21-of-50 for 42-percent from the field and 6-of-16 from the 3-point line for 37.5-percent. For the game, from the free-throw line XU was 13-of-19 for 68.4 percent.

The Musketeers led 35-25 at the half, but were outscored 38-26 in the second half.

XU will open the 2010-11 regular season on Friday, Nov. 12, hosting Western Michigan at 7 p.m. at the Cintas Center.[[In-content Ad]]
