JACKSON - The lucky number for McClain Monday evening was 11, as the Lady Tigers gained their 11th straight regular season win, defeating Jackson 12-7.
JHS was the first to score with one run in the bottom of the second inning, but the Lady Tigers responded with four runs in its half of the third. Jackson answered with three runs of its own in the bottom of the third, tying the game at four.
MHS regained the lead with one run in the fourth. Jackson overtook the top spot in the fifth with two runs.
In the top part of the sixth, the Lady Tigers' bats got hot, scoring six runs on four hits. Jackson scored once in the bottom of the same inning, and MHS added one run the top of the seventh.
Scoring runs for MHS in the five-run win were: Cortney Hyer (2), Megan Dettwiller (3), Kate Hammond (2), Frankie Wise (1), Morgan Dettwiller (2) and Kate Crabtree (2).
MHS finished with 10 hits against Jackson.
Megan Dettwiller finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Hammond went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Wise finished the win at 2-for-4 with one RBI. Alex Taylor had two RBIs and one hit. Brittany Mullikin and Morgan Dettwiller also had one hit each.
Ashley Green, who entered the game in the sixth inning, earned the pitching win. Green allowed two hits and one run. She finished with one strikeout. Megan Dettwiller started the game for the Lady Tigers. Dettwiller pitched five innings, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits while striking out two.
The win lifts MHS to 13-10 overall.
McClain will play again Wednesday as they will host Sheridan in a Division II SE District Sectional semifinal game at 5 p.m.
