Lady Tigers burn Lady Green Devils, 60-54

GREENFIELD - After suffering a heartbreaking loss last Thursday against Miami Trace for the South Central Ohio League title, the McClain Lady Tigers put that behind them Monday night at McClain High School as they defeated a tough North Adams Lady Green Devils team by a score of 60-54.
As each team was coming off a loss, it was the Lady Green Devils, currently tied for first in the Southern Hills League Division I, who led after the opening quarter by a score of 14-10.
The second frame belonged to the Lady Tigers as they opened up for a 22-point eight minute frame, while holding the Lady Green Devils to just seven points in the same quarter to take a 32-21 halftime advantage.
MHS won the third 13-10, and NA came back to win the final quarter 23-15.
North Adams senior Karli Beasley led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, making three 3-pointers. Beasley also made five free throws.
MHS junior Chrissy Cobb led the Lady Tigers with a team-high 16 points. Cobb made seven two-point baskets and two free throws.
Senior Megan Saylor followed with 12 points and senior Kate Hammond netted 10 points.
MHS senior Shelby Buck scored nine points with a 3-pointer and six free throw conversions.
Jenna Perie finished with seven points for the Lady Tigers, and Kate Crabtree finished with four points scored. Alex Taylor rounded out the Lady Tigers' scoring with two.
The Lady Green Devils (13-5) shot 9 of 11 from the free-throw line for 82 percent and 21 of 40 from the field for 53 percent in the non-league loss.
McClain was 21 of 45 shooting for 47 percent and 17 of 21 for 81 percent from the foul line.
Perie led MHS with six rebounds, followed by Cobb with five. NA won the rebound battle with 29, as MHS had 20 boards.
Crabtree and Saylor each had three steals, with MHS gaining a total of eight. NA finished with nine steals.
MHS senior Cortney Hyer led with five assists. MHS had a total of 13 assists for the game, with NA gaining 12.
NA committed 13 turnovers, as the Lady Tigers had 12.
