The Southern State Lady Patriots defended their home court Sunday afternoon as they defeated Wright State-Lake 69-61 at the Patriot Center in Hillsboro.
SSCC trailed 33-21 at the half but came out hot in the final 20 minutes as they compiled 4 8 points to take the win.
Kayla Seip led the Lady Patriots with a game-high 24 points, netting 20 points in the second half, including nine field goals and two free throws. For the game, Seip made 11 baskets and was 2 of 2 from the free throw line.
Kelsey Juillerat finished with 11 points, making one 3-pointer, along with four two-point baskets. The 3-ball from Juillerat came in the second half.
Jessica Sexton and Ashlee Liston each scored eight points for SSCC in the win over WSU-L, with Liston knocking down a 3-point shot in the second half.
Taylor Jodrey and Skye Lucas each scored five points. Lucas sank a 3-pointer and Jodrey was 1 of 1 from the free-throw line.
Hannah Gobin scored four points on two baskets, followed by two points each from Jasmine Cumberland and Jordan Allard.
SSCC was 6 of 11 from the free-throw line, while WSU-L finished 13 of 23.
WSU-L was led by Christi Steinke with 22 points, with a 5 of 10 performance from the free-throw line.
The Lady Patriots made 27 two-point buckets and three 3-pointers in the win, with WSU-L sinking 18 two pointers and four 3-point baskets.
SSCC outscored WSU-L 48-28 in the second half.
