Lady Mustangs topped by Lady G-Men

DODSONVILLE — The Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs came close to topping the Georgetown Lady G-Men Monday evening but came up short in the non-league affair, falling 51-44 at Georgetown High School.
"The girls played so hard. They were so close to getting this one," LC head coach Tiffany Barnett said. "We just needed that bucket in the fourth quarter to push us over the top but couldn't seem to find it."
LC led 11-7 after the first quarter, but trailed 25-19 at halftime. In the second frame LC was out-scored 18-8.
The Lady G-Men led after three quarters by a score of 37-29. LC won the fourth quarter, 15-14.
Senior Meredith Fittro led LC with 11 points, with one rebound and one steal.
Brooke Hertlein, a junior, scored 10 points for LC, adding seven rebounds, three blocks and one steal. Laney Lewis finished with nine points, seven rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks.
Also scoring for LC was Lillian Blankenship with seven points, with the senior adding five rebounds and one steal. Hannah Blankenship scored four points. She added five rebounds and one steal.
Emma Setty scored two points, and Karen Hilt added one point, with two rebounds and one assist. The Lady Mustangs committed 15 turnovers and went 16-of-40 from the field. LC was 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.
LC now stands at 3-3 overall. They are 1-2 in the Southern Hills League.
