HC Thunder ends season strong with three straight wins

The Highland County Thunder 15U Select team finished the regular season play strong with three straight victories.
They traveled to Cleves (Ohio), facing the Cincinnati Hawks and coming away with a 15-1 victory. Joey Wilson was the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts, allowing two hits and no walks.
Leading the hitting for the Thunder were Chaz Lanier at 2-for-5, Taylor Cox, 2-for-5 and Josh Bauer was 2-for-4. Seth Meyer and Jeremiah Hacker each had two RBIs.
On July 5, they traveled to McNicholas High School to take on the Eastside Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs had a one-game lead on the Thunder in league play, but the Thunder came away with the win.
With the bases loaded for the Bulldogs in the seventh inning and one out, the ball was hit to Hacker in centerfield, catching it for the second out of the inning. The Bulldog runner tagged up at third and headed home to tie the game, but Hacker threw a strike to home, where Jadon West applied the tag for the final out, giving the Thunder a 9-8 win.
Leading the hitting for the game was Dylan Bray with 2-for-4; Jamie Skinner, who went 3-for-3; and West at 2-for-4. Hacker was 2-for-5, and Lanier drove in four runs.
The next day, the Thunder traveled to Mason to take on the Cinti Redstockings (Red), where they came away with a 12-0 victory.
Ryan Inman was the winning pitcher, with four strikeouts, allowing two hits. The team took advantage of 11 walks and some hitting from Hacker and Lanier, who went 1-for-2, and Wilson going 2-for-2 with two doubles. Meyer and Bauer both had two RBIs.
The Highland County Thunder will be traveling to Wilmington this weekend for a tournament. They are currently in 3rd place in their SWOL (Southwest Ohio League) division with a 7-5 record.[[In-content Ad]]
