McClain High School graduate and current Rio Grande University freshman Kate Hammond scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in an 87-84 RedStorm overtime win over the University of Northwestern Ohio Tuesday night in Lima.

All 13 points by Hammond were off the bench.

While at McClain, Hammond was a four-year varsity player, scoring over 1,000 points, as she was one of only four Lady Tigers to achieve that feat.

In the season opener on Sunday, Nov. 7, Hammond made clutch shots in the 67-57 Rio Grande win over Cincinnati-Clermont. Hammond finished the season-opener with 11 points.

Also playing for the RedStorm is Hillsboro graduate Megan Barnes.

Rio Grande is 2-0 overall. The RedStorm will host Point Park College at 6 p.m. on Friday.
