Whiteoak Lady Wildcats earn first win; defeat Ripley

On Tuesday (April 8) the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats gained their first win of the 2025 season by earning a road Southern Hills Athletic Conference win over the host Ripley Lady Blue Jays with an 11-6 score.

Whiteoak finished the game with 11 runs, 11 hits and they committed five errors, while Ripley had six runs, eight hits and no errors. 

WHS trailed by a 1-0 score after the first inning, but came back to tie the score at 1-1 in the top of the second, and followed that with a two-run top of the third inning for a 3-1 lead. 

Ripley answered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth for a 3-3 tied score. Both teams scored a run in the fifth for a 4-4 score, but the top of the sixth was where Whiteoak took the momentum of the game with four runs crossing home plate. From there in the seventh inning, WHS outscored Ripley 3-2 for the 11-6 win. 

The first four batters in Whiteoak’s order each finished with two hits, and five total Lady ‘Cats players collected the two-hit mark. 

Charli Hauke was 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Kylee Ruark finished 2-for-4 with two runs and a walk. 

Kylee Hamm was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Teammate Oakley Engle was 2-for-5 with a double, one run and four RBI. Also with two hits was Madison Davidson, as she finished 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, two runs, one RBI and a walk. 

Lily Leston finished the game 1-for-4 with one RBI. Elly McMullen collected one walk, Janelle Clift collected a run and one walk, and Kiley Mitchell scored one run. 

In the circle, Leston was the winning pitcher, allowing six runs (one earned) on eight hits and two walks, all while collecting nine strikeouts. She threw 96 pitches, 63 for strikes. 

The win improves Whiteoak to 1-4 overall.
