Girls Basketball Report: Hillsboro, Whiteoak earn non-conference wins; Fairfield and LC fall in SHAC play

Hillsboro Lady Indians dominate Peebles
The Hillsboro Lady Indians left their mark in Peebles on Monday evening, earning a non-conference win over the host Peebles Lady Indians 52-13.
HHS opened the game with a 19-2 first quarter with Peighton Bledsoe scoring seven points in the frame, including a 3-pointer. Kyra Boyd and Ella Jordan each scored four points in the first, while teammates Kobie Miles and Tylee Davis each scored two points in the opening frame.
Hillsboro in the second quarter added 18 points to their overall total, while their defense allowed only six points in the second for a halftime lead of 37-8.
In that second frame, Davis scored five points, making one 3-pointer, and Kayla Seeling also sank a 3-pointer in the quarter. Dinah Ames scored four points in the second. Boyd added three points. Scoring two points in the second was Annia Young, while Bledsoe made a free throw.
The third quarter for Hillsboro saw them outscore Peebles 13-2, and in the fourth frame PHS scored three points and HHS scored two.
HHS in the third had seven points from Davis (including a 3-pointer), four points by Boyd and two points from Ames, as Ames also scored Hillsboro’s only points in the fourth frame.
Davis was the leading scorer for Hillsboro with 14 points, followed by Boyd with 11 points. Scoring eight points each in the game for the HHS Lady Indians were Bledsoe and Ames, followed by Jordan with four points, Seeling with three points, and with two points each were Miles and Young.
Team totals for HHS included 16 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and the team finished 6-of-13 from the free-throw line.
The win improves Hillsboro to 7-1 overall, and they are 4-0 in the FAC.
In JV play, Hillsboro defeated Peebles, 44-15. For Hillsboro JV, Dinah Ames and Taylor-Ann Scruggs each led the way with 11 points apiece. Other JV scoring totals for HHS were: Josie Rhoades (3), Piper Wilkin (3), Peyton Gobin (4), Riley Pence (4), Aubrey Burton (4), Kiara Boris (2) and Annia Young (2).

Whiteoak earns non-conference home win over Bethel-Tate
Using a 20-point second quarter to their advantage on Monday night, the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats defeated visiting Bethel-Tate, 48-40.
WHS struggled in the first quarter with just four points, while BTHS scored 16 points in the same frame. The second quarter was a different story for the Lady ’Cats, as they scored 20 points in the eight-minute quarter, as this time it was Bethel-Tate with single-digit scoring with six points, leaving the score 24-22 at halftime as Whiteoak held on to the lead.
WHS scored 10 points in the third and 14 points in the fourth, while BTHS had a 10-point third and eight points scored in the fourth quarter, giving Whiteoak the eight-point win.
Jillian Lucas led WHS with 13 points, making three shots from two-point range, two 3-pointers and she was 1-of-1 from the free-throw line.
Addison Roberts was next with nine points, sinking three shots from the field and going 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Charli Hauke totaled with points with four two-point baskets, and scoring seven points was Addy Hauke with two two-point baskets and a 3-pointer.
Torie Potts finished with six points by making a two two-point field goals and going 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Kylee Hamm finished with five points for WHS, sinking a two-point basket and one 3-pointer.
Team totals for the Lady ’Cats included 15 two-point baskets, four 3-pointers and they were 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
The win moves WHS to 5-1 overall, and they sit at 4-1 in the SHAC.

Fairfield loses home game to Fayetteville
Monday night saw the Fairfield Lady Lions lose a Southern Hills Athletic Conference game at home to the Fayetteville Lady Rockets by a 60-s37 score at Grandle Gymnasium.
The score was close after one frame with Fayetteville leading 10-9, but a 22-5 second frame pushed the Fayetteville advantage to 32-14 at halftime.
Fayetteville scored 14 points in the third frame, then added another 14 points in the fourth quarter, while Fairfield fought back with 11 points in the third and 12 points in the final frame.
For the Lady Lions, Isabelle Hale led the way with nine points by making three 3-pointers, all in the fourth frame.
Rilee Quickle totaled seven points with one 3-pointer and two two-point baskets.
Scoring five points each were Kassi Miller and Vivian Henninger, as Henninger sank a 3-pointer and scored a two-point bucket, and Miller made a 3-pointer and two free throws. Also with five points was Meri Jackson, as she connected with a two-point bucket and three free throws.
Addison Cannon finished with four points for FHS with two baskets, and Jaeden Drury totaled two points.
Fairfield’s team totals were seven two-point baskets, six 3-pointers, and from the free-throw line Fairfield was 5-of-8.
Fayetteville was led in scoring by Cara Rummel and Ryley Kleemeyer with 14 points a piece.
Fairfield now stands at 0-4 in the SHAC and 0-7 overall. Fayetteville moves to 5-0 in the SHAC and 6-0 overall.

Lady Mustangs fall to North Adams
The North Adams Lady Green Devils defeated the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs on Monday evening, winning over the host LCHS squad by a 40-28 score.
LCHS scored five points in the first, followed by quarter scoring of four points in the second, nine points in the third and 10 points in the fourth frame. North Adams had an 11-point first quarter, followed with five points in the second, 15 points in the third and nine points in the fourth frame.
North Adams led 16-9 at halftime.
For the Lady Mustangs, the leading scorer was Addy Carraher with 11 points, making two two-point field goals, one 3-pointer, and she was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line.
LCHS also had seven points scored by Madison McMullen, making three two-point baskets and going 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
Other final scoring for LCHS included Lily Ferguson (4), Savannah Bell (2), Ava McLaughlin (2) and Allie Waits (2).
LCHS team totals were 10 two-point baskets, one 3-pointer, and they went 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.
North Adams was led in scoring by Katelynn Boerger with 12 points and Tatum Grooms with eight points.
NAHS also had the following scoring totals: McKenna Shelton (2), Karlie Kennedy (7), Emma Pistole (1), Jacee Davis 6), Aly McCann (2) and Jade Harrison (2).
Totals for North Adams were 13 two-point baskets, three 3-pointers, and they went 5-of-16 from the free-throw line.
LCHS now stands at 1-4 in the SHAC and 2-5 overall.
North Adams improves to 4-1 in the SHAC and 4-1 overall.
