BOYS GOLF 
Monday, Aug. 20, 2025 
Hillsboro 2nd, McClain 3rd in FAC No. 4 match 

In the fourth Frontier Athletic Conference match of the ’25 season at the Hillsboro Elks the Hillsboro Indians were second place, while the McClain Tigers were third place overall. 

Jackson won the event with a score of 159, followed by Hillsboro at 166 in second place, and McClain was third place with a score of 175. 

Fourth place went to Washington at 176, followed by Miami Trace (179) and Chillicothe (191). 

The co-medalist for the match was Hillsboro’s Conner Kelch with a score of 37 in the nine-hole event. 
 
HHS scores also included: Charlie Starks (39), Hunter Seeling (45), Logan Barton (45), Walker Pence (49) and Kyle Thoroman (53).

McClain’s scores for the event were: Connor Chandler (39), Carson Chandler (42), Carter Nelson (42) and Zander Lyons (52).

Fairfield takes on Eastern
 

At the Buttermilk Golf Club on Aug. 20, the Fairfield Lady Lions competed against the Eastern Lady Warriors. 

Against their SHAC foe, FHS had a team total of 248 with four golfers, while Eastern’s score was 228, but they had just three golfers. 

Fairfield’s Kelsie Crowder was the match medalist with a score of 44. Fairfield also had scores from: Bristol Williams (60), McKenna Self (67) and Eloise Roehm (77).

McClain wins close match against Fairfield 

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, the McClain Lady Tigers gained a non-conference win over the Fairfield Lady Lions at 231-235 in a Highland County battle on the links. 

For McClain, Kaylin Sterling was first place as the match medalist with a score of 41, and for Fairfield, the second-place finisher was Kelsie Crowder with a score of 44. 

McClain scores also included: Laycee Watson (60), Autumn Uhrig (63), Lyla Chamblin (67), Joanie Shrout (69) and Audrey Griffin (70). 

Fairfield had the following scores: Bristol Williams (61), Cameron Van Dyke (65), McKenna Self (65) and Eloise Roehm (68).

Lions second against Lynchburg-Clay and Whiteoak 

The Fairfield Lions scored a 182 in a three-team tri-SHAC match on Thursday, Aug. 21, finishing in second place. 

Lynchburg-Clay won with a score of 166, and in third was Whiteoak at 184. 

Scoring for the Fairfield Lions included: Van Bennington (45), Caleb Barrera (48), Titan Crowder (44), Greyson Abbott (53), Pierce Abbott (45) and Keenan White (58).

Fairfield Lady Lions face Ripley 

The Fairfield Lady Lions and the Ripley Lady Blue Jays squared off Aug. 21, as the two SHAC teams faced each other on the links. 

FHS carded a score of 230, while Ripley had a 175 score, though they had just three players in the event.

Fairfield scores included: Kelsie Crowder (47), McKenna Self (59), Bristol Williams (62) and Eloise Roehm (62).

Fairfield falls to Whiteoak 

In a match between two SHAC schools from Highland County, the Whiteoak Wildcats defeated Fairfield by a 183-191 score. 

Score for the Lions were: Van Bennington (43), Caleb Barrera (49), Titan Crowder (48), Greyson Abbott (54), Pierce Abbott (51) and Keegan Bender (52)

McClain, Hillsboro compete in No. 5 FAC contest 

The fifth contest for the Frontier Athletic Conference was on Monday evening at The Greens in Washington C.H. where the girls golf teams were once again competing in an FAC league match on Monday.

The win by a fifth score tiebreaker was Chillicothe, as they tallied a 212 in the event and had the low score for their fifth player. 

Washington placed second at 212, and in third place was Jackson with a team score of 219. Miami Trace finished in fourth place at (221), and the final two teams were McClain in fifth place (234) and Hillsboro (261).

Scores for McClain were: Kaylin Sterling (46), Reese Roble (59), Emma Marsh (63), Maguire Ross (66), Audrey Chamblin (67) and Sarah Kegley (69). 

Hillsboro scores included: Rylea Scarberry (59), Brianna Foxx (64), Ann Boyd (68), Emarey Schurman (70) and Ryan Beyersdoerfer (71).

Indians third in FAC No. 5; Hillsboro’s Conner Kelch medalist 

The Hillsboro Indians saw one of their own win match medalist on their home course Wednesday evening as Conner Kelch was the match medalist in the FAC No. 5 golf event. 

Kelch was medalist with a score of 38 at the Hillsboro Elks. 

Scores for the third place Indians also included: Walker Pence (42), Logan Barton (44), Charlie Starks (48), Hunter Seeling (49), and Kyle Thoroman (54). 

McClain scores were: Connor Chandler (41), Carter Nelson (42), Zander Lyons (46), Carson Chandler (50) and Matthew Cummins (54). 

Jackson won the fifth FAC event with a score of 166, while Washington was second at 172 (gained second with tiebreaker). Next was HHS also with a 172 score, followed by Miami Trace (175), McClain (179) and Chillicothe (184).
