Remi Moon records 500th career kill; Lady Lions go 1-2 in recent matches

Playing their Volley for a Cause game on Wednesday (Sept. 17), the Fairfield Lady Lions volleyball team honored the Damron family, supporting their daughter, Lani, as she fights a Wilms tumor. Raising funds with prize auctions, a meal fundraiser and selling baked goods, the volleyball program donated all proceeds from the event to the Damron family.
In the non-conference match against East Clinton, the Lady Lions lost to the visiting team, their first loss of the season, by a 3-1 set score at Grandle Gymnasium.
ECHS won set one at 25-23 and set two at 25-21. The third set went to Fairfield at 25-15, but the fourth set was won by ECHS at 25-22.
Fairfield totaled 38 kills, 36 assists, 10 aces, 59 digs and two blocks.
Fairfield junior Remi Moon ended the day by gaining her 500th career kill, finishing the match with 26 kills, one ace and 17 digs.
Emma Ayers finished with one assist and six digs. Teammate Alyssa Bales totaled one ace and 16 digs. The Lady Lions also had Addison Cannon finish with two kills, one ace, three digs and one block.
Fairfield also had Jaeden Drury collect three kills, one assist, one dig and one block. Kinsey Drury finished the match with one assist, and one dig. Jorja May had five kills, one ace and six digs against East Clinton.
Ally Maynard totaled one ace and five digs. Paisley Stahlhut totaled two kills, 33 assists, five aces and four digs on Wednesday.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, the Fairfield Lady Lions defeated rival Whiteoak in three sets for the SHAC victory.
FHS won by scores of 25-15, 25-7 and 25-17 over Whiteoak at WHS.
The Lady Lions had Ayers finish with three aces and four digs, while Bales totaled two aces and 12 digs.
Cannon totaled three kills, three aces, one dig and four blocks. Jaeden Drury ended the match with two kills, one dig and one block.
Kinsey Drury finished with one assist and two digs. Kaitlyn Eidenier had one dig. The Lady Lions also had May total three kills, one assist and five digs.
Maynard ended the match with three aces, and one dig. Moon against Whiteoak had 20 kills, one assist, one ace and eight digs. Stahlhut had one kill, 26 assists, one ace and four digs.
Friday night (Sept. 19) the Lady Lions lost to SHAC counterpart, the North Adams Lady Green Devils in three sets at 25-17, 25-9 and 25-15. The win lifts NAHS to 9-0 in the SHAC Division I standings, and they are 10-4 overall.
WIth the SHAC loss, the Lady Lions are still first place in the Division II SHAC standings at 7-1, and they have an overall record of 11-2.
