Fairfield earns 5-set tournament win over Paint Valley

The Fairfield Lady Lions trailed two sets to zero in their Division VI District Quarterfinal match against the visiting Paint Valley Bearcats, where the Lady Lions rallied and won the next three sets to advance in postseason play.
No. 5 seeded Fairfield’s 3-2 set win over PVHS on Tuesday also saw junior Remi Moon set a new single-season school record in kills for a season, as she currently has 432 for the 2025 season and 721 for her three-year career.
In the tournament match at Grandle Gymnasium on Tuesday, the No. 12 seeded Lady Bearcats won the first two sets by scores of 25-15 and 25-21. Fairfield regrouped and won the next three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 15-8.
In the match, the Lady Lions collected 40 kills, led by Moon with 28, and next were Jorja May (five), Addison Cannon (two), Paisley Stahlhut (two), Bailey Jones (two) and Alyssa Bales (one).
The assists leader — FHS totaled 40 in the match — was Stahlhut with 32, followed by Moon (three), Ally Maynard (two), May (two) and Bales (one).
The Lady Lions also had 18 aces with Cannon leading with five, and next was May with four. Others with aces included Bales (three), Moon (three), Maynard (two) and Stahlhut (one).
Fairfield also had 85 digs in the tournament win, with Moon leading with 22, and next were Bales with 16, while May and Maynard each had 15. Also with digs were Stahlhut (eight), Cannon (three), Kaitlyn Eidenier (three) and Jones (three).
FHS also had three blocks with two by Cannon and one from Jones.
The quarterfinal win moves No. 5 seeded Fairfield (16-7) to the district semifinals, where they will face the No. 4 seeded and rival Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs (18-5) at 7 p.m. at Wellston High School.
Earlier this season (Sept. 25), Lynchburg-Clay defeated Fairfield in a five-set SHAC match at LCHS.
