Hillsboro Library hosting ‘Local Artist Night’ May 28
The Hillsboro Library is being transformed into an art gallery during the month of May, with a special event highlighting all of the featured artists set for the end of the month.
“Local Artist Night is the creation of our assistant manager Betty Yates,” said circulation manager Sarah Davidson.
“There are so many people around that have artistic talent that deserve to be recognized,” said Yates. “We decided that we wanted to do this so we created this event to recognize artists in Highland County. I would like to see this become a yearly event that can be enjoyed by all.”
Local Artist Night is set for May 28, from 5-7 p.m. During that time, the over 20 artists who have signed up for the event will be available for the community to meet.
Each artist will have an area where they can present their artwork and discuss their creative journeys with patrons.
“We are really excited about this event,” said Davidson. “Patrons really enjoy our Local Author Night, so it just made sense to do one for artists too.”
Local Artist Night will lead directly into the library’s Summer Reading program in June, which is also art-themed.
“We invite people to come ‘color our world’ with a summer full of crafts and other fun activities,” Davidson added.
